From what I understand of it Worf, the Wii is little more than a GameCube with an upgraded CPU and GPU, hardware wise.

Well that disk error makes sense to me.  If your X-Box emulation software suddenly stopped working or crashed, your X-Box becomes nothing more then a stripped down version of XP on a high end PC.  The first thing it's going to say is "This is not an X-Box" because it's not looking at the hardware, but the emulation software that reads the games.  Essentially this means that it shouldn't be too hard to run X-Box games on the PC provided you have the emulation software.

Did you get your Xbox 360 with the recent (massive) update installed already or did you have to run the update yourself? Also was it new out of the box or was it pre-owned and mod'd possibly?

And do you have to use the dollar-sign when talking about Microsoft? That's soo 1996.

Why do you have to use a fancy interpretation of the word "modded" with a hyphen?  :p

1.  It's an apostrophe, not a hyphen.  This: - would normally be considered a hyphen, though in reality, I suppose it's a dash...  But if you notice, Word converts two dashes to a hyphen.  So maybe on the web, '--' would technically be a hyphen.

2.  It's still pretentious.  Just say 'modded' like everyone else, Cox.  Jerk. :p

EDIT:  I dunno why... I suppose I just scanned the thread too fast, but I thought Flix was the one who made the comment about Cox's use of the 'hyphen.'  I was cutting him slack because he's one of those weirdo Yer-o-pee-ans...  But you have no excuse, Greg.  Moron.

More like Windows 2000 on a PPC chip.
:p

*points at Windows Vista hat and Microsoft shirt that I'm currently wearing*
That answer your question?

I've heard about the recent update crashing systems too.  But at least the system's still under warranty.

Yeah, 'crash' is an understatement, more like 'dead to the point where you have to ship it back for replacement' is more correct. And warrantys are nice.

Yes I know that. It isn't a touch on the other two when it comes to graphics.

I am far from a graphics whore. I couldn't care less. As long stuff looks nice enough and the gameplay is great - there isn't a problem.

The thing is tiny though, it's the same size as 3 DVD cases stuck together. I know the Cube was small, but that is extreme - even for a lower powered console.

Flix, I know you were joking but... I am almost certain that the Wiimote was originally supposed to be the Gamecube controller!

Games like Super Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion could have been designed specifically for the Wiimote. Mario's waterjet, Luigi's flashlight and vacuum are just too perfect for the Wiimote. Pikmin, too.

Nintendo talked alot about the Gamecube having revolutionary control when they were hyping it. They then announced the c-stick and clickable shoulder buttons. :old8:

Methinks things just didn't go right, so they opted for the regular controller.

BUT, I'll most definately end up with both a Wii and PS3 on my shelf in the long run. :old1:

My xbox was new out of the box, so I have no idea if it has the massive update, as i have not connected to live as of yet.

@Gal Dukat: I just put a game in my PC and the discs loads up power dvd and gives me the error msg.
