I feel like 2 different designer are fighting each other at Apple... Kinda weird... One with slim simple black/white design. One with pop colorfull design.

yeah, when I heard the press event was coming out I was looking for something more. But yeah, nothing big for me at least.

Maybe for apple.. one more year in business is a big deal for them. Hey they are the underdogs right? They fought hard against microsoft, maybe they need a reason to celebrate!

Well, if you look at their SEC filings, the iPods have been their cash cows for a while now - more so than their laptops or desktops. So, if this "redesign" means they sell more iPods, they'll continue to make money, which is good for them and their shareholders. This doesn't seem to be earth-shattering, they're just making sure the iPods still sell well.
