Ok, I've managed to get VS 7 to compile dll's for cgame, game and ui and have set up the debugging profiles etc.

When I run the game using only dll's (no qvm) then the mods own UI starts up fine and everything works. I can set breakpoints in ui_main.c->vmMain() and they are being used ok. Then I press my button in the UI that launches a demo and soon thereafter I get an access violation exception at the end of vmMain() (see picture). After clicking the button it still executes a series of commands in vmMain() and the very last command executed before the crash is the harmless "case UI_IS_FULLSCREEN: return Menus_AnyFullScreenVisible();".

I suspect some memory-trashing earlier is the problem so that the return-address of vmMain() is destroyed, but I have no idea how to find it. Any help ?

When I run the game using qvm's then there is no problems whatsoever....

Why are you making new topics...?

You can post them in cimpiling dll's
coz making new topics with less posts on it sucks

Never mind, problem is solved although it took a really long time and I had to have Deltaray teach me a bit VS (and even having him using VS on my PC through VNC).

Anyway, even though VS reported the exception as happening in UI it was really happening in cgame. cgame should have caught the exception but didn't because of a case of the good old DLL H*LL. There was a cgame dll with debug-info in the ReFrag folder but it was not used ! Instead VS used an earlier cgame dll stored in the SOF2 folder :)

After fixing that problem and then another one I can now say that all of ReFrag is working in DLL and I can debug using breakpoint and singestepping etc. This is REALLY gonna ease development ! I wish I had had it working a year ago... :-/

Now I can go back to just caring for my flu :-/
