The Transformers that are appearing in the new movie have been announced. Check it out

Hmm, not sure if I like this - first of all, I wonder if that's *all* the Transformers appearing - it would make it 7 Decepticons against 5 Autobots - not necessarily a fair fight.  Secondly, it seems like they're making a puree out of all the Transformer varieties - classic + Constructicon + Dinobot + Beast Wars - not sure if that will work.  Thirdly, fundamentally changing Transformer figures - Bumblebee as a Camaro?  Why do they mock my childhood memories?

I can understand some of the changes.  The movie's timeline takes place in 2003 ish.  Makes no sense for them to take the styles of 1980s vehicles.
However, bumbebee could very easily be a VW Beatle.  And adding a beast wars bot is just wrong.  Well... depending on where they land I guess.  I mean, the transformers, upon landing, scan the immediate area for appropriate objects to use as a discuise.  Now if they all land in different areas then that'll definetly account for it.  However if they make Megatron into anything other then a gun, I'll freak.  He's a gun.  No questions, no back talk, no "OMG!  Kids will imitate it!".  Oh and Prime has to be red.

Actually it's stupid parents who don't teach their stupid kids who then grab real guns to play transformers.

I'm not crazy about it. But I'm happy that Starscream is in there.

Maybe a cameo by Unicron? Possible little hint at a sequel at the end by him?
Unicron is the coolest transformer by far.

No, he could not.  Volkswagon is against their products being used for violence or war, or some such.  Google it up and see.

As for Megatron being a gun...I think they were going for 'realism' here, funnily enough.  Making him a gun that Starscream could wield isn't really physically possible.

As for changes to coloring, etc, I'm ok with that.  At least Prime has red in him and he's being voiced by Peter Cullen.

Now, if they get Frank Welker for Megatron...
