Meh, if we go back to the original purpose of this partucular forum, then it ends up not needing to exist anymore. Mods are few and far between, new maps aren't as previlant as they once were, people don't buy the game anymore because it's out of production, those that did buy it either stopped playing it OR know enough about it to not have any problems.
It seems to me that this community has evolved. When EF began to lose popularity the forum community, not wanting to disband, began to speak about other topics. This has become more then just a place to talk about Elite Force, it's become a place to talk with friends. Perhaps all non-EF threads should be moved to a new section where political and religious threads are allowed. Although I will question why heaving modding was ever neccisary. Logically speaking nothing can be done by flaming. I could badmouth anyone or anything I want here or anywhere else on the net and it would lead to no real end. At the worst I'd be banned from the community. Yes people can get angry over things written, I know I have, but it's no different from a face-to-face argument except with face-to-face you can hit them. |

I don`t think it needs to be modded more heavily, such as banning political discussion once again, but I do believe that when someone repetadly offends people time and time again, the offending thread should be locked and the user in question given a warning, or something along those lines. Then again, we have never really needed that since EF died out, I think most of us know what we can say to other people on these boards and how they will take it, and it has been that way for a good while, up until couple of months ago, but now that recent events have happened, I think we can all get on with having a laugh round here again. I think the political/religious discussion should be allowed, but perhaps locked when flaming starts if we ever have this kind of thing again, (which tonight, I have been very guilty of, but that`s run it`s course now). |
