HRH is right.  I'd be afraid too.  Then again, what's a guy doing with a battle ready, fully sharpened Bat'leth in his house anyway? ???

UK police seem to be easily frightened:

Yupp.

What, if US police found a sharpened Batleth in someone's house, they'd just say "ooh! massive blade! oh well."?

Yep.  My brother keeps several.  However if they find one on your person or in your car, THEN your in trouble.
Then again they'll only search for it if they have a reason to search your car in the first place.

What, do you expect them to confiscate it or something?

Add to the fact that UK police do not carry guns and they have VERY good reason to worry about knives.  They are lethal weapons.  If you would be comfortable taking on some spaced out scum with a 6 inch knife while armed only with a baton and CS spray then you're made of tough stuff.

Some UK police carry guns and those that don't, well a baton ought to be enough for them.

I think the UK has it all wrong they take away the guns then the knives what's next? Seriously they shouldn't have to take away this stuff. I think the issue here is probably with how they deal with people that commit the crimes. If you have punishments that are appropriate for what ever crime is being committed then the crime rate should go down and the problem will become resolved.

So give your police for guns and appropriate training for them if they need them. And make punishments appropriate such as if some guy kills a cop they and is caught they should be given the death sentence. Now I don't know how the law works in the UK but from my understanding is even more of a joke than Canadians. Please correct me if I am wrong here because I don't know all that much on

Think of it this way it's not hard to make normal house hold items into serious deadly weapons and primarily the only people that will do that are those that are not suppose to. So when they go to attack an insistent bystander that person is going to have nothing to defend them self with and will be an easy victim. Same goes for the cops if the criminal knows that the officer is virtually unarmed he is far more likely to attack him then if he knows the cop will have a gun in his face.

That's just my two cents
