I live 40mins from one of the biggest supplies of fresh water in the world.  And thankfully, our city got in just before they started to limit tapping into Lake Michigan.  (the village right next to us has well water)

What are you talking about?

I'm saying we have the world's largest supply of freshwater, so we don't have to worry as much about water levels and such...  That's a good thing.  I wasn't implying it was a bad thing.

Because wells can run dry.  Lake Michigan, not so much.

Oh, why are wells bad...  Not only what Corran said, but generally the water tastes worse.  In fact, there was a whole issue last year were Romeoville was having problems w/ their water supply because it had elevated levels of radon in it... (radon... in rocks... where ground water is)
So that's why I still make fun of people who life in Romeoville (neighboring town) and their 'cancer water.'  We got 'Chicago water' a few years back, and shortly after that they started to try to limit the communities that got it.

isnt your water processed before your can actualy drink it, here it would make no difference where it comes from... ???

No, we suck it out of the ground w/ a straw.  What do you think?

Of course it is.  But certain minerals/metals/whatever remain in the water, and even if they're safe for consumption, they can really affect the taste.  (what do you think gives water taste?)  And generally, there's more crap to clean up when it comes out of (even possibly polluted) groundwater instead of a large body of fresh water.
