Hi all
I have a Speedtouch Thompson Alcatel 510 ADSL router/modem (4 port), that I have been unable to get a server up and running successfully.

Ok the story.
Behind the modem/router I have 2 PC’s. both running XP sp2.
I have 2 licensed copies of sof2, and each PC is running the latest free version of Zone alarm.
I have configured and am running the server with sof2GameRunner all standard settings, nothing out of the ordinary (yes I have selected “Server type INTERNET”)

The router has the lastest firmware installed (4.3.2.6.0). When you access the router , there is actually a page that you can assign games and applications to devices/PC’s.

In the game list, Soldier of fortune is listed. When you view the config on the game, it lists the ports 20100.
Since it has ports 20100 listed I assume it is setup for SOF2 and Not SOF1, (as the name in the list only says “Soldier of fortune”) I assume its up-to-date port info as in the list is also half-life 2, doom3 and other current games.
so,, i have setup my 2nd pc to run that sof service.

However the ports are only TCP, shouldn’t it also be UDP?

Anyway, the game loads, and from my 1st PC, I can find the game in LOCAL list, not the INTERNET list, and join. (I believe as im on the same local network I will only find it in the local list)

From the servers consol, when I type,
Pb_sv_ver
I receive the following -
“PunkBuster Server: PunkBuster Server (v1.166 | A1358 C1.205) Enabled”

So to me that means it can talk to the PB server. That’s good,

However, no one from the outside world can see me in their INTERNET lists, even when the server runs for an hour.
I have tried changing the ports for SOF in the router, as there in an option to select the following port protocols for the game.
TCP (this is the default setting for sof in the router)
UDP or
ANY

I have changed to ANY, and had no luck aswell.
I have also tried turning off Zonealarm, but that didn’t work either.
And the firewall on my router is off.

I have checked the info at portforward.com but that’s lists the old firmware version, (when I had the old firmware I was unable to create a server as well).

I can join any sever on the net, with both PCs at the same time (if that means anything to anyone) and i have no issue browsing the internet.
Any help would be appreciated, if you need screen shots, of the routers config page or anything I can load them to my webserver.

please, if anyone has an idea, let me know...

manually forward the port needed to the router and make sure WinXP firewall is also off. Running a server off your home connection is a bad idea unless you have massive amount of bandwith. Just join a public server and play, lots of good ones out there.

there is a similiar thread in the german sof2 forum .. when you did the things above with your router, try to start your sof2mp.exe with +set net_ip ip# +set net_port port#

outactr, what you need to do is to make sure is the following.
Find out with which port your server is running, using this command in the server console: net_port

You must add port forwarding for this Port (UDP Only) to your local PC IP, check out the router manual for how to configure Port Forwarding.

Only then your Server will be visible to the Internet ;)
