Okay, posters who don't agree shut up please and don't post anything I only want to share thoughts with people who have the same oppinion with some points from me for SP. 1. WTF did you do with the music? You destroyed the atmosphere with your orchestra #### ! WE WANT INDUSTRIAL METAL OR ATMOSPHERIC INDEPENDENT MUSIC ! You didn't listen to your fans, I thought the trailer had some good music in it. 2. It's the sequel so where is the level type of the 2nd Quake, more brownish etc. open maps and not so many corridors ! The LEvel design didn't remind me really that much of quake. The sky is good looking but you could have included a dark red, yellow etc. sky ! 3. Kane's Stroggofications was a joke ! We see the stroggofication and instead of wandering a bit in the structures around etc. the next second you are freed. WOW ! The scene wasn't impressive...... You told us it's not the only twist ? So what are the others, dead marine members, oh the stroggos breached the barrieer etc.? wow impressive cough cough. 4. The enemies were sometimes really not for quake. The rammalien (stroggo), the flying huge baby boss (man I pissed in my pants, I really laughed about this thing) well and perhaps some others. 5. Where are the stroggo sounds? yeah really great 1 sound each mostly, the gunner is still cool and the gladiator, but please more retro sounds........... 6. GIBS BLOOD & GORE !!!!!! Quake had fountains when you blowed enemies, I want those too in Q4, that's Quake style.... 7. The weapons, man okay they aren't #### and I like them mostly, the lighting gun is too light...... 8. This game isn't really quake, just throw in some stroggos etc. doesn't make a game to quake, the whole above mentioned points make quake !!!!!!! Over and out, you don'T read it I know, you failed with this sequel raven, not fully but for many parts. I enjoy the game very much, it's a real good game ! The only thing is that if it wouldn'T be quake 4 and the sequel, a standalone game, it would be really cool ! but for the sequel it's okay. Mostly I dunno if you really believe your own words Tim Willits, Todd etc. Do you really want to ruin the unique game style of the ID Games? Over and out, spam this thread now with, "another needless thread" blabla, you guys aren't real quake lovers if you accept such things like the ####ed up music ! |

Well, man, say thank you to Raven and ID that they didn't bury Quake like they buried Heretic/heXen. But most of your remarks are jokeable. If you want Quake II with new graphics you can do that yourself. If you just want an expansion of Quake II - you can definately do it yourself. But count how many years passed between Quake II and Quake IV. This is a new game. It bears Quake name because of likenesses - Storgg, weapons, Mars, but that's all. Otherwise, it's a different game. Raven could have said that Quake IV will be like Quake II, but they lied to themselves. It is impossible to reproduce the game the same way they were, especially after time had passed. Even if not - look at those Heretic/heXen series. heXen was not at all like Heretic, but did I hate it? No. Heretic II wasn't Heretic at all, but did I hate it? Not at all. I'm fan of the series, but the games in the series are highly different. Same with HoMaM, Warcraft, Age of Empires, DooM, Quake. When a new game is done, sequel or not, it is a new game, not an expansion of the prequel. Yes, DooM II is a copy of DooM, but was that good? For some people - yes. For some - not. You put too much expectation. But you should look at the game like it is, not how you wanted it. You may not like it. I loved Warcraft II but I never liked Warcraft III. But I don't blame Blizzard for making a bad sequel. The new game is just for other people, not for me. But now, for DooM, Quake, Heretic, heXen, etc., it's modding time. If you want a game of your dream, make it. Or wait until someone else does. You are not alone. There are other who don't accept Quake IV. They will unite, and revive the game, perhaps. That is all I can say. Raven and ID did all they could - they made a game and called it Quake IV. From one side, it is rude of them to call it Quake because it is not Quake as fans remember it. From another, it is their game and their right. You can't force them make the game exactly as you want. They are developers, they develop, pushed on by ID, Activision... |

You are right at some points, but still I think that my points aren'T jokeable, they could have been in this game too and in this new generation of games and Q4 would be more like a sequel to Q2. I dunno but most dEvs lie to the public and want to believe you that their game promises everything. Just watch most music threads fans wanted to have, they don'T listen to us fans ! That's ####ed up. Between Q2 & Q4 passed many years, right, but still they could have included much more recognition of Q2. Sometimes they shouldn't make a sequel or something else cause mostly they ruin a series, well quake 4 didn't ruin it completely but it lets shine another light to the series. |

Well, your atguments are laughable because they are about tiny bits of the game. I was dissapointed by the Hellstaff in Heretic II. I was dissapointed by the 3rd-person view. I thought heXen was too dark. But once I looked into it, I realized there is more to it, then those bits. When I first saw heXen I didn't know it was a sequel to Heretic. But I definately saw a likeness. But the games are very different. Weapons, enemies, hub system, music, sounds, classes, etc., very different. Much more different than Quake II and Quake IV. Actually, what is the difference between Quake, and DooM? Weapons are pretty much the same. Demons are not that far from strogg. The areas - too, mech and tech. Same health-shield-ammo thing. But no one calls Quake and expansion of DooM, do they? So maybe there is something much more different between them, not color of a strogg's hide?
And speaking of them that Raven shouldn't have continued QUake, I don;t think you are right. We are both fans, only I am a fan of Heretic/heXen, and you are of Quake. But I personaly definately wish a sequel. I know it will be different, perhaps very different. But it still may be a SotSR. How - I don't care. They can even travel to a new world again. But I would want a sequel. It turns out not the way I wanted? Well, welcome to editor.
And think now. Just imagine. It is year 2009. Warcraft5, WOW6, DooM7, AOE5, UT etc, all continued. But no Quake. No one knows about quake. Say quake to a gaming person - he answers - "what, earthquake?". Do you want to be in a situation like that? I don't, but that is the fate of heXen. But now? There is Q4, and there are people who like it and those who don't. But everybody will say - there is q4 now. but q2 was much better. |
