Lets examine This a little bit. You would suffer a capitail loss which you maybe able to claim as a deduction on your income tax then you would have to pay sales tax on the device and pay a possible Captail Gains tax. I don't see where you could save money. Capt. Janeway says that temperal machanics gives her a headache.

Actually you couldn't change anything in the past if you could go back in time. Let's say your friend is sitting in a chair and you want to kill him, if he is still sitting in that chair, something obviously stopped you from killing him in the past, like not being able to actually go back in time.

And you forgot the possibility of alternative timeline. Each change create a new one that you may not be able to get in.

Not if you also prevented whatever stopped you the first time around.
