I don't see why anyone would want a job in the game industry when your making less money doing your job than if you work for any company outside it. While there may be money to be made you'd have to be the top 1% up with the likes of John Carmack. Not that money is everything, but I also wouldn't want to work a tremendous amount of overtime to work on a project that will eventually be rushed early to compete with some other project making me feel less than satisfied especially if it does not do well ratings wise. But that's just me. Oh yeah, and I'll bet I'll see 1,000 people fired when EA eventually buys out Ubi.

I wonder if they're bringing in all these new people on contract for a game or something.

I think a job in the games industry would be a really fun experience.  Maybe the money isn't great, but that's not of tremendous concern to me.  As for EA buying out Ubi, I don't really see that happening as Ubi's asked the French government to step in to help fend that off.

EDIT: If my current job prospects fall through, maybe this will be my excuse to invade Canada to help Groggy beat back the Canadiens.

1.  Kanadia frightens me.
2.  No way I'm gonna put in the kind of hours a game dev has to.

Hmm, that'd be a deal breaker for me, unless of course French is only english with an outrageous accent.  :;):

And what do you mean by "And... They lack of resume. (Serious!)" Speedy?  Is it that they don't require a resume?

I was in Quebec City as a kid many years ago.  Don't remember much, except for a quick stop at the Plains of Abraham.  My dad was born and raised in Quebec (he's Anglo), I think he just wanted to stop and savour the moment :)  OK, I'll stop with the Canadian history jokes now...

40 hours a week? Yeah... For someone locked in his basement, that's a lot. :p

They need resumes. They just didn't receive enough so far.

And I know some dev who speak only English. Of course we are expecting them to learn a bit of French.

Why not?  If you're young enough (read:unmarried) it could be fun.  They do *pay* you, you know.
