"We'll have to wait and see."


Personally, I loved Q3A: Team Arena the best, I loved all the modes!  As for runes and so forth, those should be mutators that can be turned on and off like in UT2k4.  But, I don't think that is going to happen based on what I just read.  And I am glad there will not be vehicles in Q4 MP, I hated the vehicles in UT2k4, they seem to slow down and cheapen the gameplay.

I already posted the link and that very same quote above.

Besides Harvester none of the Team Arena CTF variants was very enjyoable IMO. 1Flag CTF is even more like deathmatch and Overload was just silly. These gametypes are kind of redundant, much like many of the not so great modes in the UT2k series.

And Team Arena was really unpopular, so it isn´t a good inspiration for the MP of Quake4. If they include variants of CTF, they should try and include a classic variant based on Q2 CTF.

My favourite would be a cross between Q3 Threewave´s Capturestrike gametype (round based CTF variant with Rocket Arena setup) and Assault: round-based assault scenarios, with teams switching sides every round so that both teams play defense and offense on the same map several times. Rules would be like Threewave Capturestrike, but instead of capturing / defending the flag it could have a broader variety of assault / defend scenarios.

I was thinking about having the grapple in Quake4 and i think there will be a problem then. Since the dynamic shadows and flying alongside light-source and stuff, wouldn't players cast huge shadows when flying across a light-source? IMO that should look very stupid and will be annoying after a while. :(

I think Q3 ctf is the best in the CTF scenes, so Q3 CTF stlye seems to be the way Q4 CTF go. Someone mentioned UT 2003/2004 CTF, but I'd like to say that UT 2003/2004 CTF stuffs are quite boring compared to Q3 CTF which came out in 1999.
