I am able to do an rcon sv_mapcycle mymaphere.mapcycle and  load any mapcycle I want.  What I can't do is get rid of it.  I have tried rcon sv_mapcycle "" and that doesn't work.  I have tried rcon sv_mapcycle none, with and without the quotes, and that doesn't work either.  HOW do I get rid of a mapcycle running on my dedcated server using the rcon command?

I am using the pwnBOT MOD just to have BOTs, but no OSP or any other kind of server MOD.

AFAIK, the mapcycle file is necessary for the server to run.

What are you trying to do, create a server which runs only 1 map?  If so, just create a 1-map mapcycle and be done.

I have run my dedicated server with no mapcycle....  it is not needed in order to run.  In my sof2mp.cfg file, I have had it set to:  seta sv_mapcycle ""  .....  and it works perfectly with no mapcycle whatsoever.  I have to admin it to add BOTs or change maps or whatever, but that is the idea.  How can I get it back to: seta sv_mapcycle ""  ...  using the rcon command from a remote computer??

Your idea of a "one map" mapcycle is not bad, just seems like there should be a way to rcon a mapcycle out, without having to replace it with another one.

I have learned something new today.  Thanks!

Can you reset the mapcycle to "" from the server console directly?  Or does that not work either?

This is a new one by me.  Anyone else out there know?

maybe maybe it works when you add the command in the mapcycle mymaphere. For example, when mapcycle is at the end and you want it to run no mapcycle anymore, then you add seta sv_mapcycle "" in the commands of the last map.
Dunno if it works, but you could give it a try

Yes bubba....  I can set it to nothing from the server console, just not using the rcon (remote) commands.

Chicane, not a bad idea, but I don't want to have to wait till the last map to end the mapcycle, I want to be able to use rcon commands to do it whenever I want, if there is a way to do it.      :)

Sorry for the double post, but I think I have it figured out.  I have to do an rcon killserver, and then restart the server for it to take effect.  Now, is there a way to restart the server remotely with an rcon command????       :O

It has to do with the "seta" and "set" statement in the cfg's. I don't recall which was which but one makes it so that it cannot be over written and changed, I don't know if it meant it could not be changed from rcon or the console either.
Why don't you just make the cfg the way you want it and restart the server? Or is this for setting the server up for matches and you only want 1 map? You might have to make sure there is a map named in the map setting before trying to set the mapcycle to none

Example: map mp_shop2

Thanks Kenny.....   I just downloaded ServerDoc, and made a one map mapcycle and added it to my server.cfg.  Now when I want to get the server off of a particular mapcycle using rcon, I just do a rcon quit, and ServerDoc restarts the server with the one map mapcycle.  That makes my dedicated server more tweakable from my remote comp.  Before, any map I changed to would just launch the mapcycle I had in and start it from that point.  Was frustrating, because the mapcycle I use is HUGE and covers most stock maps and gametypes, plus adds BOTs using the minplayers method!  I also use .txt files and exec them from the console using rcon to add BOTs to the server, but with bot minplayers running, it wouldn't work.

Thanks for all the imput everyone, but ServerDoc did the trick.  Pretty slick little proggy!      :D
