Hello,
Ive been looking for a post that was made by a raven employee that said the varios reasons they cant release the
patch yet.
Ive seen /quotes but cant find the actual real deal. I understand that there should be some time for people to
test and what not.
When I bought my copy, the SP crashes and i cant see most of the servers in the find server menu. I have found alternate methods for finding servers and i dont play Sp 3rd person shooters. So i dont care to much about that. However ballanced saber use is a very big issue. A player with single saber should be on equal grounds -vs- a player with staff or duel saber.
Luckily for me (and anyone who apreciates skill over cheese)
i found the bladeworks mod. I havnt seen any mention here so i decided to speak up. Theyve ballanced allot of issues.
Theyve greatly reduced the one hit kill bugs. Almost all random action has been removed. Playability has increased 10
fold. However its still not perfect. before they can perfect it they need a patch to go from. Everything theyve done is server side, so only the server host needs the mod, players
can do what they do best "play".

Untill an official patch comes out this is (imho) the best thing going.

BLADEWORKS HERE

*notice im not attempting to subvert the doings of anyone who holds property rights, just trying to quench the masses untill we can get a patch. Thanx....(=-M-=)

"A player with single saber should be on equal grounds -vs- a player with staff or duel saber."

Isn't that more a personal opinion than fact? I think a staff would be more powerful than a single saber because you effectively attack with the initial swing and the backswing as well as having a 200% more chance of hitting if you were to spin it round (2 blades @ 180 degrees = 2x more chances in a spin).

I'm not putting your post down, I'm just saying there's a difference between unbalanced weapons and facts on blade style. They have limited stances with dual and staff as well in order to give single an advantage. All depends on how you tackle it.

If you want real unbalancing, spawn an x-wing and try and destroy it with the missile launcher....takes bloody ages! A saber will destroy it in 3 swings! That actually goes for almost all vehicles...the weapons have been waited so a heat seeking missile can't blow up a ship...that is unbalanced to me.

blademod is not a real mod, it is a collection of scripts and a config file. a real mod alters the source of the game. and since the sdk has not been released, it isnt possible. and the other features it offers, like the supposed ability to adminstrate the server from the web site, and share settings between multiple servers, thats extremely easy for anyone who knows basic php or perl, i have that stuff set up on my site for me. and i dont need any mod to do it either.

and before anyone gets onto me asking why i'm 'bashing' it. i looked at the web site for it, and everywhere, all i see is 'if you give me money, i can get more time'. that doesnt make one bit of sense to me, since when could you buy time? its more like, send me money or i wont work on it. and each 'donation' buys a feature.

and to me, thats just wrong, a cheap and easy way to make some money. exploiting people who dont know better, and have a little spare money. i couldnt sleep at night...

problem with games is, everyone seems to know what is best... it's like soccer: in Catalonia we've this saying: "Every person is a Soccer Manager"... :D

Every good idea has it's counter-idea, so it's futile to point out what Ravensoft did wrong in our oppinion! :D

Except if you find yourself walking through a solid wall in a map thats covered in a metal texture and is designed to block you, that'd definately be a bug
:s2:

Hehe, you're right tho, sabers, guns, kata's, none of them are actually buggy, they're just personal opinions all of which, as you said, have counter opinions. Try to explain that to some of them though and you become a Raven's a** kisser. Don't we all just love online gaming?  :D

lol man! Yeah, bugs are one thing, personal preferences on how a saber should perform are a different matter!

I guess that if lots of people were taken to the past (i.e. to the times when PacMan was THE GAME! [TM]), they would start complaining about the looks of the ghosts AND how terrible it was that you could teleport from the left area of the screen to the right area! :D :D  :s4:

Not to mention that ghosts are not even matter, so what good would 'eating' one do for him anyway? ;)

The balancing of the sabers makes sense. Opinion or not, two or three features in the game so closely related should be on equal footing. Theres no reason why one should be stronger. Having different moves is enough. The game should (IMHO) be about skill and well ballanced gameplay.

Please dont be so quik to judge before you try.
