Author Topic: cant play my map, says couldnt find spawnpoint

hey guys, trying to make a map its been a while, but basically ive made my skybox, rather big i must say, then i made a flat piece of grass, placed global intermission on and worldspawn and did the lighting stuff, added textures to it all, then i added tdm and dm spawns i added a light also, i go to compile it, and all that, and go to play it and when it goes to load in singleplayer says couldnt load spawn points or something like that, when i go to play my map for multiplayer thru console, doing DEVMAP it just says it couldnt load my map for what ever reason,

any ideas on whats up??? thanks!, also there is no leaks that i know of with the skybox

well what are you trying to make a SP map or an MP map? you need to decide that first. if you are trying to make an SP map you need to right click on the grid and click info then select player_start. and that will be the spawn for your player. if you are trying to make an MP map figure out what do you want your map to be compatible with. TDM, DM, CTF, SD. any of that. but to keep things simple you can put TDM spawns down and it seems like you know how to do that just for testing the map at first. the reason why it wont load is because there is most likely an error. before running the map in console put /developer 1. and then open up console and see the full detail of the error.

ok thanks, and yes multiplayer, i want to spawn and get the scale of stuff to see if its too big or not, i dont remember havign these problems before, usually throw in a dm spawn and such and your good 2 go, but i will do what you just sugested, thanks!

ok well it said this error, not sure what looking for inside of console any how, but it said

script runtime error

file maps/mp/gametypes/_callbacksetup.gsc line 10

not sure what that means????, thanks!

well to save time for you to get the scale of things you can always right click on the grid and click actor and select someone from the list and place him up against walls door ways windows anything like that so you can get an idea of how things will look for the player. if you are having anymore problems try searching threw the tutorial section for cod and cod2 if you don't find what you are looking for just post back here.

i was reading that, but thats to completely compile for somebody to play on, i remember i could just use the .bsp or .map or something like that to just play on my self with out anybody else, to quickly test rather then a full compile,

heres another thing ive found WARNING: Could not find 'maps/newmapzors.csv'.

yeah on the compile thing you just click test map? something like that. that button never worked properly for me so i just got the map ready to play on. just like the tutorial i just linked you to. its your best option if you ask me. that way you can clear any errors the map may have really quick. i highly recommend you learn the stuff on that link.
