Map Errors : Definitions and Solutions
FloatPlane: bad normal / WARNING: brush plane with no normal

These error normally occurs when you are using vertex manipulation (pressing V on the keyboard and moving the brushes vertices). This could cause at least one face of the brush to be invisible in the game and usually causes the brush to disappear in the editor. You could also get this error when you have a brush that is smaller than 1 grid unit thick, and try to re-size the brush with the grid size set to 1 unit or greater. This will cause the brush to disappear and become an infinite size. This may also produce extra errors like “Entity x, Brush x: degenerate plane”, “Entity x, Brush x: mirrored plane”, “WARNING: brush plane with no normal” Use plugins \ bobToolz \ Brush Cleanup to fix this problem, then rebuild the brush.

Float Plane
it often occurs when you try to manipulate vertices of a clipped brush--if you cut a long brush into a triangular shape from the side and then try to alter vertices into a diagonal or angled orientation, you\'ll get this error. It\'s not always an error that stops you from building the map, as long as you keep the vertices somewhat close to eachother as you alter them. Many times, when manipulating the vertex, a diagonal line will appear on a side that appears to be a single face. Even when you select this face of the brush individually, it will come up as a single solid face, but for some reason it may to the compiler as a \"degenerate\" plane. In this case, simply remake the brush, making sure the vertices stay as close and as similarly positioned as possible--it\'s best to select them all and move them all if you\'re angling a brush into position, and then position them individually if needed. Make sure the vertices NEVER intersect or overlap another brush, and make sure the brush doesn\'t have multiple face contents. Good luck--email me if you would like an example of this sort of manipulation. (GlumBum2@yahoo.com)
