Introduction:

This is Castle V2.0, an enhanced version of the original "Castle" map I made earlier. The Castle structure itself remains relatively the same. Except for a change in orientation of one of the gatehouses, it should be very familiar to those who have played on the original version. That being said, there are significant changes to the whole map which should improve playability.

New Features of V2.0:

Scenary has been added around the castle. You can go outside the walls and go around the entire castle.

A moat has been added. Scripting should prevent anyone from going crouched or prone in the water.

Catacombs have been added underneath the castle, which will allow for underground "flanking." There are four entrances to the catacombs, scattered across the castle area.

In order to improve r&g (running and gunning), as well as give submachine-gunners more breathing room, crates have been added in some of the longer passageways that are inside the castle walls. This will lessen somewhat a rifleman's ability to choke off a corridor.

Additional gametypes have been added in (Retrieval and SD*).

Brushwork has been optimized to make the Castle map run smoother in certain areas.

V2.1 Changes

1) Two openings were created in the castle walls, and stairways added so that players could gain access to the passageways directly from the courtyard.

2) One of the turrets by the chapel now has an access point from the courtyard.

3) Crates were widened and additional crates were created.

4) A passageway whose entrance to the castle keep had been walled off has now been opened. This makes for a total of nine ways to go into the castle keep.

5) Stable area now has an access point to the battlements

SD Gametype Slight Modification*:

The Search & Destroy gametype has been slightly modified for team elimination. More accurately, the attacking team hunts down and tries to kill every last player of the defending team in order to win. The defending team can win by either killing all attackers, or by simply surving to the end of the round. There are no reachable bombzones.

Installation Instructions:

Extract the "zzzz_user_mp_castle2.pk3" file and place it the Call of Duty\Main directory.

The name of the bsp file is "castle2". Use this name if you plan to run the map from the console.

Uninstallation is performed by removal of the said pk3 file.

System Specs:

Map tops out around 65,000 tris. FPS was typically 60+. The garden area of the castle is the biggest frame dropper (usually 35-45 FPS).

This was on an Athlon 64 3000 w/ Radeon 9200 video card.
