Changes from previous
----------------------------------------
- Removed Garand sound from v.4
This was a big complaint, I apologize. I have removed it :)
- Painscreen
This can be turned off with a cVar of "scr_painscreen" either 1, or 0.
An enhanced reddened pain screen ...I like it , but some may not. Turn if off if you don't :)
- Blood on Player Viwecam
Blood will appear in your "view" if :
1 - you bash/wound someone who is very close to you (in distance, not your lover )
2 - you take a shot to the head
3 - you take a hit from a rocket/grenade at close distance
- Damaged helmets complete with bullet hole
At random times, your helmet will pop off with various degrees of damage visible on the helmet.
- Added facial blood Texture
fixed a few more placeholder artwork damage skins
- Enhanced - more realistic Blood dripping
when shot, blood will now drip from the impact point (or close to it).
- Added player decapitation....
..just what it says :) All I got to say is it's something you can turn off if you deem it inappropriate.
here are the cvars for it..it is a "percentage" number based on weapon types:
cvar | value
----------------------------
sv_sniperdecap |(0 - 100)
sv_rifledecap |""
sv_nadedecap |""
sv_rocketdecap |""
- Anti Camper Feature
I wanted to put a smile on peoples faces from time to time..as being Merciless all the time
can be a bit draining. This will occur when a player is idle for more than 30 seconds (i.e. - camping).
- Modified BAR sound
- Added Blood splatter squirting sounds
you will now hear the pitter-patter of little squishy sounds as the blood splats on a surface
- Enhanced Bullet impact sounds
modified some things here...you'll probably not notice at all...

Installation
----------------------------------------
Be sure to run the uninstaller for beta3 before running the installation for beta 4
The 1.3 patch seems to fix the issues associated from running the mod the way it should be run.
To install this mod properly see below:
If your game is installed to the default location (c:\program files\call of duty) then do NOT modify the installation path already set on the Merciless installation program. This is very important, so please heed this.
If your game is NOT installed to the default location, then you will need to set the installation path as follows:
"x:\game path\Merciless"
(x:\ = drive where game is installed)
(game path = directory where game is installed).
----------------------------------------
Running a Server
----------------------------------------
To run a server do the following:
1) Start Call of Duty Multiplayer
2) Select the "Mods" menu option
3) Select "Merciless" from the mods list
4) Click "Launch"
5) When game restarts afterwards, select "Create Server"
6) Click through the gametypes until you get to the desired "Merciless" gametype
7) Select the server options for that gametype
8) Click start to start the server
----------------------------------------
COnfiguring a linux server
----------------------------------------
1) Create a folder "merciless" in your main cod on your server (where the "cod_lnxded" is located)
2) Upload the both pk3 files (Merciless_beta_3.pk3, z_mc_bloodfx_v5.pk3) in the merciless folder
3) copy the "game.mp.i386.so" from your "main" folder to the merciless folder
4) in your "default_mp.cfg" you have to set this variables:
set g_gametype "tdm"
//Global Merciless Toggle
set sv_merciless 1
//Global PRM Toggle
set sv_prm 1
//Merciless cVars
set scr_painsounds "1"
set scr_dripblood "1"
set scr_bloodpools "1"
set scr_healthdrops "1"
set scr_weapondrops "1"
5) now go into your root cod dir and type the following:
./cod_lnxded +set fs_game merciless
----------------------------------------
Connecting to a server
----------------------------------------
To connect to a server you MUST have the Merciless mod installed (see installation instructions above).
All you need to do is simply connect to the server, no need for anything else!! Merciless will NOT interfere with other mods since it runs from it's own Mod folder.

FAQ
----------------------------------------
Q) I am seeing fire & flames when I shoot someone, what the heck??! This mod sucks...
A) now now, calm down...chances are you don't have th emod installed properly. Please make sure you pay very close attention to the instructions for installation. If yuou are still experiencing problems, then contact me at
c-a-p@cox.net and I will get your problem resolved.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q) Can I play my custom maps with this mod??
A) Yes!! The 0.5 version of Merciless currently supports all available nationalites and all "official" gametypes
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q) Can I use this mod with any other mods??
A) Well, I cant say for sure to be honest. Some mods will work, others wont. In general, I would urge you to temporarily disable any other mods besides Merciless while playing on a Merciless server. I will try my best to make this work with any mod, so please contact me if you want to discuss compatability with other mods.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q) How do I activate the PRM Realism Features?
The cVars are as follows:
sv_prm 1 , enables PRM Realism Features (shellshock, drop weapon on hand/arm hit)
sv_prm 2, disables PRM Realism Features
sv_merciless 1, enables all Merciless features (sounds, blood pools, extended damage, etc)
sv_merciless 2, disables all Merciless features
Also, of most importance here...I removed all of the specific shellshock c-vars. I know , I know..before
you get too upset, let me explain. I modified how the shellshock was being implimented.
I have it set now so that it's more "damage" based than weapon based as it was originally.
I know you will let me know if you don't like it...remember...I listen to what you say, and if the
majority feels like it should be the 'old 'way, then I will revert it.
