I've tried several tutorials to get a simple zombie map to run, but I still seem to come up with missing sounds, and/or script errors. I always find it funny when you follow along in a tutorial, exactly, and it doesn't work.

Here's the latest after installing the 1.5 and 1.3 patches:

If anyone has some helpful tips to get through this insane maze of scripts and a link to a working tutorial, that would be appreciated.

I'll take a certain amount of criticism but, should it really be this difficult? It's almost as though the developers just schlepped this stuff together and tossed it out to the public.

Do you have all the animscripts?

My pc is down so I have not downloaded the new patch. I would:

Extract all scripts from any and ALL fastfiles that you were given:

Correct any folder names and install//copy everything to the appropriate directories.

Check your using the same mod.ff folder in order to pack the NEW zombie utility files (or maybe treyarch has changed this?) and have the game load them instead of the old patch.ff

Copy all shi no numa csvs and gsc and do edit find/replace to update the names to your map name.

Compile and go.

Thanks, techno, I'm pretty sure I've done all of that already, and used the converter, but I'll try again. I'm just wondering why is it necessary to jump through all of these hoops. Shouldn't I already have all of the scripts? I have the game CD and it is installed, and I downloaded the mod tools and copied over the updated versions.

From the latest mod tools 1.3:

"We are excited to see new, fan-made zombie maps created by the community. Have fun!"

LoL!! I'm having fun alright. [crazy] Now if they could just fill everyone in on how to do it... [lol]

Have they given you fastfiles .. or have they actually given you .zips containing all the scripts?

If it's the latter then chances are they have missed something, if it's the first then chances are you can't extract everything that you need.

I'm sure some Treyarch guys will get a wiki page up soon.

I got a map working for 1.3 Mod Tools late last night. I wrote a script tutorial since I fixed up a bunch of things. It is too big to post in these forums, so here is the link:

http://customcod.com/community/index.php?topic=4472.0

And here is a zip file with the files you need to get your map running with the new mod tools:

Thank you Sgt.Rampage for taking the time and making the effort. I checked out your tut and downloaded the zip file. I was able to load up my test zombie map.

However... [biggrin]

My compile console had more errors than before. I still have missing sounds in game. My player step sounds are still missing (I think I saw a lot of step sound errors in the compile console this time around). I can hear the zombies steps though. I also noticed the new weapon creates a dirt explosion no matter what I hit with the electric shot. I didn't notice that playing the stock sumpf level.

Keep on truckin', Rampage. With the help that you and others provide, it gets guys like me just that much closer to a finished product. [thumbs_up]
