Forums:

The forums, to many members, are a vital resource on Modosnline.com. With the help of nearly every poster at your hands, you are sure to have your post answered soon. There are several categories which you can post in. They are there so if you have a problem with COD:UO, you post in that section and not the HL:2 area. There are rules which must be followed on Modsonline.com so it is an enjoyable place for everyone.
Why are there Rules?

While we encourage people to ask questions and to participate in the discussions, there are some comments that are in bad taste and drive people away. We want our long-time members to feel comfortable and new users to feel welcome. For these reasons, we have rules that our administrators and moderators uphold.

"Now the easiest part of any coaches job is the Cuts. Now I couldn't cut all of you but here they are."
No warez or other non-copyrighted materials are to be solicited. We can get in just as much trouble as you for allowing posts about warez to exist, only the officials know where they can find us.
No spam. Don't solicit your products or services if they are unrelated to the site and/or topic of discussion. I'm sure there are millions of other people you can ask to help you get your money out of Africa.
No off-site solicitation. While we do allow you to post links and information about your latest maps, screenshots, models, etc., we discourage links to website that are unaffiliated with us. Rather than following each link posted to find out that it's a horrible porn site, we will most likely delete the post.
Don't post cheats or hacks. Many of our members have enough trouble dealing with cheaters and hackers in-game. We don't want to have to deal with it in-site as well.
Watch those spoilers. If you are going to post a spoiler, please make it clear that you are doing so BEFORE we read it. You might have finished that part of the game, but we all haven't.
Use of unauthorized scripts or similar website coding is cause for deletion and possible account suspension. Use of JavaScript or other tactics that cause unwarranted website effects will be treated as spam.
Attention getting behavior for the sake of getting attention is discouraged. If you have a question or you want to be recognized, participate in the discussions. This includes overuse of the CAPS-lock.
Moderators are here to help in the forums. If they want to be contacted privately, they will let you know. Please do not email, private message (PM) otherwise personally contact the moderators of the forums for such things that could be asked in the forums. If you have a site issue that needs immediate attention, contact an administrator instead.
"Or what? You'll release the dogs? Or the bees? Or the dogs with bees in their mouth and when they bark they shoot bees at you?"

Failure to follow the rules above will result in the deletion of your post and could also result in the suspension of your account. Refunds on suspended accounts will be denied.

Each forum has moderators which have presiding power. They all are aware of the rules and are fellow members just like you. These Moderators or ‘Mods’ as you may see them being called, are there to help you have a welcome and comfortable time on the site. They do however enforce sites rules and have a duty to report anyone who breaks rules. Just take time to read those rules and you will be fine.

That is all I really can think of at the moment, but that should be enough for you to understand the site.

I hope this has been helpful,
Supersword

Here is a little update:

As a member of Modsonline, you can see that you are able to access vital things such as posting on the forums, downloading new files and more. But a lot of the questions asked on the forums are already solved. If you look to the Menu block, you will see a link named FAQ. This stands for Frequently Asked Questions. Here, you will find a lot of answers for questions about the site and games. Remember to check these out as you can find a lot of good information.

If you haven’t seen it, Modsonline post gaming news almost everyday. As a poster myself, I look for interesting topics to post which I think will be useful to the members. If you are running a site, and would like to have these news publications added to your site, you need to check out the RSS feed which can be found Here.

Projects are very important if you want to show the community your progress on your current piece of work. You have the option of showing the percentage of it complete, adding comments, screenshots, changing layouts and presenting your work neatly. This could be considered you public e-portfolio. With becoming a subscriber, you can unleash the full potential of the projects section and really show off your work.

Now if you are a keen gamer, you will be happy to know that Modsonline offer a Affiliate store in which you can purchase games from Amazon.com. These games are regularly updated to Amazon’s stock and you are sure to find something you like. This area is definatly a place to keep an eye on as it may be possible to purchase from Amazon.co.uk in the future.

If you buy a lot of games, you may want to share you experience with other members. If you can write a good article about a game, the admins of the site (Foyleman, rEdrUmMDK and Foxhound) will consider it for publication on the site. Check out the Reviews link for the current reviews.

Getting help efficiently:

There is one thing that everyone should consider on this site. It is designed and run to help you. The members on this site, well most of them, are prepared to ask for help, aswell as recieve it. That is why we have forums, so you can do the same.

The naming of your topics is vital. If you don't give enough information, you cannot get as much help as you would if you named your topic correctly. Let me give you a little scenario..

You are having trouble with alpha blending. You cannot get it working, so you decide to check the forums. If you don't find an answer, you have made a post. The topic of your title is "PLEASE HELP ME QUICKLY... HELP!!!". Now, you topic is likely to be answered, yet it now means that if someone was in the same situation as you, they cannot search the site well, because your topic isn't very descriptive. Also, it means that you are likely to be answered late on.

So if you was to name your topic, "Alpha Blending Issues", or something along those lines, you will get a good answer quicker, aswell as helping out users to follow.

Something to keep in mind.

While we at modsonline.com appreciate the enthusiasm that our members have towards mapping, we also encourage them to 'help themselves'

you have been advised the same as we advise ALL new members - which is to READ the tutorials and to USE the search function to find solutions to the more commonly asked questions. The tutorials have been written to answer the most common questions about mapping, and likewise, the FAQ were written for the same reason.

The search function works suprisingly well - but you have to USE IT!

While we dont discourage the asking of questions, we do prefer to help those who help themselves - which is another way to say look before you leap ... LOOK in the FAQ's...LOOK in the Tutorials (Remember that ALOT of the tutorials are cross platform - a tutorial for COD will likely work in CODUO and COD2)...and USE the search function to try and find the answer yourself
