spouting "community" is a bit harsh considering they've always intended to release it to everyone...

its a fantastic mod, and you all should be proud. [thumbs_up]

I missed some of what was said here, but let me say this. For a long time those of us who have loved the Base Assault gametype have been left behind. While I still think COD and COD/UO are the best games for modding, we were the forgotten people. Activision and those they chose to take COD to the next level completely ignored the BA gametype and those that supported it.

So all we had was UO, that is, until now. Along comes a group of people who took the time and resources to mod one of of those games, WaW, to include Base Assault. All I can say is thank you.

To all those who took part in this endeavor I am very thankful. And not only I but all those who are addicted to a gametype that makes you work as a team, makes you use your talents to work for a goal, should be equally grateful.

IMO COD has gone the way of shoot-em-up, run around mindless gaming that does not interest me in the slightest. By creating this mod this group, IMO has revived COD and not only I should be grateful but Activision should be as well. Maybe they'll take another look at this gametype in the future but somehow I doubt it.

For anyone to cast dispersions on this mod is mind boggling. It doesn't matter to me if they make it a public mod or not. It's their choice. My personal opinion is I believe that once this mod is perfected it will be available to all. I believe this because this group is not a clan but a group of gamers who are dedicated to gaming and modding, it's that simple.

Maybe I had been mistaken on my information. Can anyone clarify this?

Are the source files going to be available for mappers to make maps, or will the maps be just anarchic maps?

The final decision on that hasnt been made yet. Rollin is reluctant to do so, but only because of how complex it is to add BAS to any map. He doesnt have the time nor the inclination to write tutorials on how to add it, and support questions on it.

However, it is possible that I might take up the challenge and do all the supporting for him.

Its a decision we will make in the future. But even if we decide not to release the assets, that wouldnt be any different than hundreds of other mods who dont release their source files. So, I dont see why AX are being singled out for special mention.

One thing I can be certain about is this: if we DO decide to release, it wont be to people who bad mouth our work. Any knockers of our work need not apply.

Hello All !

First i want to say thank you for all your feedback here and i m happy to see so many people enjoying this mod. I answered here because i have to clarify some things about us, the mod & the team. I want to say thanks to cornrow wallace who helps me a lot on endless 1vs1 tests over this 1 year to get all the features working..he suggested a lot of things which would never be in the mod if he would not have advised me. I still have respect about his knowledge of mapping/gameplay and the constant support of the cod series for the WW2 genre here and on many other places. I saw many mods & servers dying over the last years and it hurts me to see the old dust of some of the coder's & mappers who left this genre completely. We all should be really happy we found a way to generate useful custom content for CoD:WW to give the game a longer life on the PC mapping & modding community. Also big thanks to demonseed...his mod was the reason for me to continue the work on the bas mod. And i still appreciate it a lot we can use his DemonMod as sub-mod for the gametype.

As for the current status of the mod. It was time to see how the mod is working on a full server and some bugs/problems just starts with many clients. Thats why we called this a public BETA. It is still unfinished and we already found new bugs & problems after the last days. Our home & community supported us for years now and from day 1 of this mod. We owe our community this first server and if i know who really deserve it to play the bas gametype than its our home and our friends. It makes no sense to me to run the mod on multiple servers which are empty or not full. Every clan,community or admin runs another setup of configs etc. which could be very different from ours and it would take a lot of time or more time to fix thier versions than ours.

Thats why we'll keep the current beta server to edit step by step the latest bugs on the fly and its still open to everyone. Additional i cant understand why some users/mappers/modders asking already to release source files when they're still unfinished. Besides this there is already a source package released here on modsonline to generate bas maps and the gametype for CoD:WW. And if people continue to blame & bother us for not releasing .map files or other stuff the distance to think about it will increase. We are open to everyones questions via pm & forum and if we find the time we are glad to help you guys.
