Hi ive been using GTKRadiant to make maps and I have run int a problem my map needs a tower to be put in but i cant make one that a player can go in for that matter i cant make a round object i can edit ie put holes in or like a window any help would be great...

also if any one knows how to make a platform that can move along more than one path please assist.

Patch meshes can be used to create a tower, but they aren't the best choice for what your asking. First off they change, if your right next to it it will use 16 sides, but if your 100 feet away there will be 8, and at 200 feet 4 sides. That is to make the game run better FPS wise, however brushes are static and will never change, also, since the meshes are not actual curves, but instead multiple straight lines, there's no real gain aside from the FPS from using them for your tower over brushes. Brushes don't need to be clipped either.

The "cheap & dirty" way is to make a single brush the size of your tower, with the brush selected, goto the brush menu, and choose arbitrary size, give it a number you feel is good for your purpose (32?) and then use the "hollow" feature, and then you can use "CSG Subtract" to remove the overlaps in the brushes, and to also create your door/window. As a warning CSGS is not recommened as it can cause errors. But after you do it that way, you will have the idea of how to create it from scratch if you so choose.


*The moving platform would be a func_train, with multiple path_corners, (for example 4 path_corners would make a box) but you can't (atleast to my knowledge) make it "jump tracks" to a second set of 4 differant path_corners if that's what your asking.

thank you on the tower and I did the func_train then corner_path with a key of corner1 and another with corner2 and till i had 4 corners but I cant get the train to run ;(
