Hi Everyone,

I have modified a map and put it in the base folder, I run a dedicated server on another PC.

I can connect to the server and download the map in question no problems, run around in it with no problems and play the map in tourney mode with no problems but when another person joins the game in DM or TDM mode, once the warmup time has finished and the game is about to start proper it crashes with this text from the console.

I can't for the life of me understand why because the map I customized runs DM and TDM no problems and I didn't change any of the spawns etc.

Any ideas?

you say you changed a map. If it's a stock map and the map name hasn't been changed, then when the other person joins, their map differs. This causes the crash. This is an anti-cheat method initiated through source/mpgame/Instance.cpp.

I modified the fragging yard map, but i saved it with a different map name and also made the def file.

The pk4 was on my server and I downloaded it from there as did my friend who was testing it with me, so we should both have gad the same map that was on the server.

did you try turning off punkbuster on the server and client ends?

Otherwise, is there a way I can test this map too?

I'm unsure what was causing the problem, But i went back to an earlier version and its ok, the problem seems to arise when i add more multiplayer spawn points, so for the time being i have left them as the original map was.

working on trying to make some banners now, finding it difficult to find info on how to do it, i'm guessing it like the section in your book for making custom textures.

But as always things are never easy because I have lost the cd that came with the book. [banghead]

Oh well I guess I will get there in the end.
