HL2 Almost Gold

Following the trail of snoopers, I found that Half-Life should be announced as Gold within a day or two. Sure, you may have heard that it's done and now downloading through Steam.. but apparently it must not have been done.
Shacknews: Word has it that Valve has submitted RC5 recently addressing just a couple of bugs. Assuming those are fixed and nothing more is found in further testing we could be looking at a gold announcement... [ There's more ]

Half-Life 2 Available for Purchase

Doug Lombardi of Valve Software informs us that the three Half-Life 2 packages are now available to be purchased directly from Valve, through their Steam network platform.

"Those who purchase via Steam, will receive the final version of Counter-Strike: Source immediately. Half-Life 2 and other games in the Steam offerings will be made available to purchasers upon their release," Lombardi said earlier. Half-Life 2 Prices and Plans

In a press release yesterday evening Doug Lombardi of Valve Software has released information pertaining to the prices and details of the offerings in which Half-Life 2 will ship. There are three versions, Bronze, Silver and Gold - all of which you can learn about if you read more. The game is only being released on the Steam platform first, but HL2 itself will only be unlocked at the time of release (which is yet unknown, but projected November 23).... [ There's more ]

Valve vs Vivendi

If you haven't heard, Valve Software and Vivendi Universal (thier publisher) have been go back and forth in court for a little while now... since 2002. It all started when the original Half Life started showing up in internet cafe's without the consent of Valve (Sierra is a division of Vivendi). This has not been settled and they even have a court date for this coming on October 8th.

Counter-Strike: Source Beta Starts

Today Cyber Cafés get to start pre-loading the Counter-Strike: Source beta. Doug Lombardi informs us that on Wednesday, the first phase of the beta will open and the game will be playable at all cyber cafes that subscribe to the Valve Cyber Café Program. Later on this month, owners of Condition Zero will get to try their hand at this beta as well. Also, those with a HL2 Voucher from ATI who enter their CD-Key into the Steam program will also be eligible.
