A Call to Arms is a Call to Strike

We received notification today that the CCA CoD2 strike is going underway as planned. Here is the official announcement:

Today is a very sad day and one which should not be rejoiced or applauded.

After weeks of trying to obtain a response to the questions in my post. "The Time Has Come For Action" and without any kind of meaningful response from either Activision or Infinity Ward, it is indeed now The Time for Action.

Activision Responds to CoD2 Server Strike

Activision has responded to Call of Duty 2 fans who threatened to shut down servers by embarking on a 24 hour strike.

In a statement issued to Eurogamer, the publisher said: "After 2 yearsof non-stop work on Call of Duty 2, Infinity Ward has just returnedfrom a much-deserved break. The team is aware of some concerns aboutmultiplayer cheating in the game and is looking into an anti-cheatsolution.

NIMF and ESRB Go At It

Geez, this would make a great MODSonair topic. Check this out...

The National Institute for Media and Family sent out report cards to the game industry for the 10th year. While alot of areas sch as retailers all got D- grades, anything related to ESRB received F grades for such things as the accuracy of ratings.

Valve's Next - A Sim Game?

Robin Walker of Valve recently mentioned in an interview that the Valve may be working on a game that isn't a FPS or an action game at all. That they want to build what sounds like a sim game or what they term as "cooperative building games".

Treyarch

I am a LD at Treyarch (I worked on BRO) and wanted to pass along some info. We are still looking for a MP Level Builder for our next game. I thought there might be a few guys here that may be good candidates. It's an awesome group of guys here @ Treyarch that are extremely talented. 1/2 the team was the guys from Gray Matter and there was some new people brought on for BRO. The job needs to be filled yesterday!

Patch and Tools Support

There is word that EA is sending out two important downloads in the near future for Battlefield. The first is a patch to fix some of the issues with the game, particularly for the expansion Special Forces. However the second is supposed to be an updated set of BF2 tools. Project IM

Here is a new FPS coming to market. This is an Unreal Engine 3 game in pre-devlopment still looking for a publisher. There is very little information available about this game, BUT.. there are some screenshots and a teaser (with about 1 second of gamplay) available on their website.
