ATI AA OpenGL Accelerator

HEXUS.net is offering news of a tool from ATI for their accelerators that accelerates high resolution OpenGL performance with antialiasing enabled, which ATI says can improve framerates in DOOM 3 by as much as 35%. Word is the memory mapping improvements offered in the tool will be included in future revisions of the CATALYST reference drivers beginning with version 5.11.

Graphics Processors Capable of Physics Processing

As AGEIA startup approaches actual introduction of its physics processors, graphics firm ATI Technologies says that its chips are already capable of processing physics and it is only a matter of time for the graphics giant to enable the capability on commercially shipped units.

Beta Drivers for Doom 3 Performance

ATI has released a public beta of their next drivers release, CATALYST 4.9. This was released in order to help those who need more performance for Doom 3, but they are not supported and as the site says, "ATI does NOT recommend installing these drivers in systems used for mission critical operations or where productivity of any kind is a concern."
