This is my first tutorial on here and hopfully a good one, i will try and watch my grammar.
I will try to spell everything correctly! Right! For starters you will need some outside programs.
Photoshop link:http://www.photoshop.com/
Photoshop .dds plugin link: http://developer.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html
Direct X texture tool link:http://www.microsoft.com/DOWNLOADS/details.aspx?FamilyID=24a541d6-0486-4453-8641-1eee9e21b282&displaylang=en
I think you need NVIDIA graphic card aswell.
STEP 1)
First off, presuming you have the 3 outside programs you will need to make/ obtain 2 images of your choice.
Once you have made/ obtained 2 images make sure you resize them to 512 x 512, you can use any image editing program to resize them, that is up to you!
Then import the first image into photoshop then click FILE >> SAVE AS, then change the format to "D3D/ DDS{*.DDS)"
(FOR THIS BIT YOU NEED THE .DDS PLUGIN INSTALLED FOR PHOTOSHOP!)
When you click save a new window will pop up, called "NVIDIA dds format V8.23"
Once the settings are the same, save the picture!
________________________________________________________________________________
Repete this step for the second picture aswell
________________________________________________________________________________
STEP 2) Double click one of the image.dds you have created and if you have Direct X texture tool then this window will appear with your picture in.
When this loads up click FILE >> Open OnTo This Surface >> find your second image.dds
NOW! Click File >> Save As >> (newname).dds and save this into your COD4 >> TEXTURE_ASSETS folder.
If you don't have a TEXTURE ASSETS folder then make one.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
STEP 3) Open up Asset manager
Click FILE >> OPEN >> (Call of Duty - Modern Warfare)/source_data/Level.gdt
Click [New Entr] button
give your texture a nem (i.e. fadewall)
Then click OK then make these settings:
Then click FILE >> SAVE
Then click PC CONVERT >> CURRENT ASSET ONLY
and this will be instantly added to your radient :)
*note surface type + useage make it easier to find the texture in radiant!*
Once you find your new texture in radiant then you can use it.
To add it to maps when you compile make sure to add this to your zone files
materials,fade_wall
or what ever you called your texture
just like the compass and loadscreen you need to add the .iwi in the images folder which is in the .iwd
the .iwi can be found in CALL OF DUTY - MODERN WARFARE >> RAW >> IMAGES
to learn how to make .iwd then go on a loadscreen or minimap tutorial :) they will tell yah!!
WELL HOPE THIS REALLY HELPS!!!!!!!!!!
*note, you dont have to add anything to your .gsc to import the texture*
