Now that you have the mod tools installed, locate the program Radiant and the Compile Tools and make shorcuts on your desktop, you should be able to go to start/all programs/activision/Call of Duty 2 Mod Tools and right click on each and make a desktop shortcut- do that for both.
This is what Radiant should look like upon opening it. Do not panic! Think of it as Mircrosoft Word, its just like any other program you just have to get used to it and know how to use it! I will explain more under the picture

You will notice I labeled each window. Radiant consist of 3 main windows to work from. There is an in depth explanation of each window and what each has to offer. There is also a list of controls to navigate listed below, as well as other "Mapping Lingo"
1.) The Grid Window- A bluprint style of what you build in Radiant. This window is the most used and, you can make brushes, navigate within your map, select, delete, copy, move, clip, and insert models, spawn points, and other accessories in this window. You can change the view to the top, and either side. It works off of an axis base- like real bluprints, so X,Y,Z (top width and length)
2.) The 3D Window- This window displays a 3d version of what you create in the grid window almost like what it will look like in game. It shows the buildings, cars..everything you place in the map. You can also select, delete, move and copy brushes/prefabs/models (You cannot however draw a brush in the 3d window nor add models, spawn points and other accessories.
3.) The Texture Window- The Texture window displays the textures used in your map, you can navigate to find new textures to add to a wall, ground ect. through the texture window. When you open a map after working on it, the textures you have previously used will be displayed for easy use, you can also narrow down the type of texture you are looking for through different techniques that will be explained later in this tutorial.
The top "Toolbar" is like that of a toolbar in another program. It offers different techniques and tools to work from.A lot of these tools you will not use right away- or ever. The most important tools will have separate tutorials on how to use them properly.
This picture is from my map "Athens"- to show you what a complete non blank project will look like.

PART 2:CONTROLS AND LINGO IN RADIANT
Here are some basic buttons you should know before mapping in cod2 Radiant, Notice you can re-size the windows to your liking by left clicking and holding the borders and dragging them side to side, or up and down for the texture window.
GRID WINDOW CONTROLS (Remember you can always "Edit Undo" :)
1.) Left click and hold then drag to make a "brush" A brush is what we call a wall, barrier ect. in Radiant.
2.) Zooming In and Out in the Grid Window- The scroll wheel on your mouse will zoom in and out of the grid window. You will notice the unit size become smaller and bigger.
3.) Shift + Left Click Selects a Brush. You will notice the red line around the map and in the 3d window it will have a red tint when it is selected. (You can select more than one brush at a time by holding shift and left clicking more than one brush FYI)
4.) Deselecting a brush- Pressing Escape while a brush is selected will DE-SELECT that brush so you can move on or just to check out what you have done.
5.) Deleting a Brush- When a brush is selected press Backspace to Delete it and it is gone forever
6.) To make a copy of a brush- While a Brush is selected press the "Space Bar" You will notice the copied version will then automatically become the selected brush and brought up right next to the copy, you can then move it right away or do with it what you want to.
6.) Moving a brush- While a brush is selected, in the grid window - Left click and hold *inside* or *on* the brush and you will be able to drag it anywhere you want.
*Moving the view of the Grid can be done by HOLDING the right click and moving it around to navigate*
7.) Re-sizing a Brush- In the grid window while a brush is selected Left click on the *outside* of the brushes red border, while holding the left click, you can drag your mouse side to side or up and down (depending on which view you are in it )
8.) To change the Axis View in the Grid Window press Ctrl. + Tab. If you zoom in a little and look in the top left hand corner you will notice the purple small text- its always there and it says what axis you are in. if you are looking down at your map it will say XY Top, if you are looking from the front it will say XZ Front, and if you are looking from the side..yup you guessed it, it will say YZ Side.
9.) Right Clicking in the Grid window will bring up a menu drop down list. This drop down list is where you add spawn points, models, prefabs, and script entities. There will be an intermediate Tutorial added to show how to add each of these separately for they are very different from each other.
3D WINDOW CONTROLS
Many of the same controls are the same in the 3d window as they are in the Grid Window such as selecting, deselecting, erasing, copying, and moving. Some different controls that you can use are as followed- **If you dont have any brush or building drawn you wont notice much of a change while going through these controls because there is nothing there**
D – Moves the 3d diagram Up.
C – Moves the 3d Diagram Down.
A – Change camera angle on 3d diagram of map upwards.
Z – Change camera angle on 3d diagram of map downwards.
**Right click on mouse on 3d diagram – Moves the camera around so that you can search for something or zoom around to navigate through your map!** used A LOT
TEXTURE WINDOW CONTROLS
Scrolling through the texture window you will notice many different textures, ranging from ground, wallpaper, concrete ect.
To add a texture to a brush, you must have the brush selected and then just click on the texture within the texture window that you you want that brush to be. Press escape to see what it will look like on that brush (when a brush is selected it has a red tint so i like to de-select a brush after i texture it so I can check it out and see if its what I want) To change the texture of just one side of a brush- for example if you wanted the inside of a brick building to be wallpaper- do the following. *Without* the brush selected hold down Ctrl + Shift, then left click on the side or sides of the brush that you want to texture differently and only those sides will become selected and then you can choose a texture for that side- pretty neat uh?!
To narrow down what you see in the texture bar to easily add textures to a brush, go up to the Tool Bar and bring down the Texture drop down list. The last three on the list- Usage, Locale, and Surface Type are used to narrow down textures for efficiently.
Under Usage you will see many different categories of different types of interior and exterior items you would want to texture hence "Usage"- (Use) For example... if you click interior wall, The texture window will suddenly narrow down the textures used in Call of Duty for interior walls.
Locale, is Location. If you are working on a desert map you would find many textures under "Toujane" useful, for it will narrow down to textures used in the making of the map, Toujane.
Surface Type narrows it down even further to wood, dirt, grass and so on.
**KEEP IN MIND WITH USAGE LOCALE AND SURFACE TYPE** Lets say you need a wood texture for the wood floor of a building so you go to surface type wood, but nothing comes up in the texture window.- what to do?! Make sure that Usage and Locale are set to "All" and that should fix it. If you had just previously narrowed down the search in usage for "sky" for the sky you want in your map, the Usage will still be set to sky so nothing would come up because you just told the game to look for a wooden sky texture..which there are non of.
Lets say you know the name of a texture that you had seen, and decided to use it later on but you cant remember where you saw it or what type of texture it is, well you can search for it easily. If you press "P" while in Radiant you will bring up the Program window. Many settings for radiant can be changed in this window, for now check in the upper right hand corner "Texture Subset" in the texturing area and press okay. You will now notice a text bar in the texture window. Typing in this bar will alphabetically narrow down the textures, its a texture search bar! The text bar annoys me, it gets in the way with other keyboard shortcuts i use because it will start typing in the shortcut in the text bar and ticks me off, so i leave it off unless of course I'm searching for a texture.
These are the basic and intermediate Controls in Radiant, if anyone needs or wants me to add something- PM me!
Thank you guys
