Using Live Link

In this task we will show you how to use Live Link to move an object around the Mission Editor and precisely place that object within the game world.

We have a pre-configured file that has a number of props already in-situ. We will use the Live Link option to move an items to the correct location.

  1. Load the livelink.mssn file in to the Mission Editor.
  2. Run the mission using the Test Mission option, take a look around the beach to familiarise yourself with the location of the props.

You will notice a campfire and a fire particle effect placed near to it, a broken vehicle, two bodies and two boats, both of which are damaged beyond repair, as shown in the Figure below. For this example we want to move the campfire and place it correctly over the fire particle effect.

  1. Stop the mission, and rerun it using the Test Mission with Live Link option.
  2. If you have enough space on your desktop, move the game window in a position where you can still see the Mission Editor.
  3. While the game is running, move the Camp fire object on the Mission Editor, you will see it update the entities position in the game world as shown in the Figure below.

There may be a small delay in moving a Prop on the Mission Editor and its updated position on the Game World.
