Today were going to learn how to make decals for CoD2. As I’ve never seen any tutorials for it and a lot of people have asked me how to do it.

So... First we start of with out image that we want to be a decal.
Vie choose this logo that was needed for a map I made for a clan.



Now we want to make sure the image has a transparent background and is a multiple of 2 in size. (i.e. 32x32, 64x64, 128x128, 256x256, 512x512, 1024x1024, and so on.)

Once we have our white background we now save it as a DDS file.
We don’t need to have it set to DX5 but I’ve choose this one and it works. Set it to 2D Texture and Generate MIP maps and set the drop box to All. And then Save the image to your Call of Duty 2 main/images folder. (Mine is C:Program FilesActivisionCall of Duty 2mainimages)



So now that’s all the Photoshop parts done. Now for converting the image. You will need to open the Call of duty 2 Assets Manager. Commonly known as AssMan
Make your settings like this but u can change the surface type, usage and tick what ever boxes you want. And then press F10 to compile the image or go the slow way and click PC Convert > Current Assists only.



Ok so once your done, make and IWD copy the file out of the images folder and paste it into the images folder in your IWD and do the same for the materials file.

So once that’s done open up CoD 2 Radiant. Make a brush painted with Decal_NoDraw (bight yellow colour) then select the face u want the decal to show on and paint the texture on.

Once that is done save you map, compile it, make your GSC file, and put it all into the IWD with your image files.

And Presto! You’re done your very own decals.
