This is a quick little tutorial on how to shade colors onto a mesh, whether it be a terrain mesh or patch mesh. If you don't know how to blend two textures together -- or even if you do -- this could save you a lot of time, and yes, it is VERY easy. Let's get started.
First, we have our palette; a terrain mesh. Make sure you've got everything aligned the way you want it before getting started. Now, hit the Y key to bring up the Advanced Patch Editing Options window. It looks like this: Alright, now choose Flatten and RGB on the Patch Editiing window, make sure "Allow Soft Selection..." is checked, and go down to Color and choose the one you'd like to apply. You'll see something like this when you put your cursor over any terrain now (and no, the terrain doesn't have to be selected). Now, to start coloring. To add color, hold down Alt and push the left mouse button, then drag the mouse around. To subtract color, hold down Alt and push the right mouse button, then drag the mouse around. Enjoy! =D Tutorial by ReishVedaur |
