  • Intel Core i7-980X Six-Core 32nm Review Round-Up - The Core i7 980X is the latest offering to come from Intel. It is based on the 32nm Nehalem micro-architecture code named Westmere. The 32nm process is a process technology change or die shrink with the next architecture change coming with Sandy Bridge For this processor Intel has bumped up the amount of physical cores by two to a total of six and upped the shared L3 Smart cache by 50% to 12MB.
  • 59 CPU Roundup - The chaps over at iXBTlabs.co tested 59 different CPUs!
  • Intel H55/H57 Round-up: Full coverage for Core i3 and i5 - The cheaper Biostar reached a very high result, but one shouldn't forget that the default clocks produced weaker results on these motherboards than the rest, and even at their best, they weren't significantly faster than the other models. Therefore, Biostar is the perfect choice for showing off, but only to those that value additional features little. It must also be said that Biostar is hardly the champion of software support and regular BIOS update intervals, where other companies fare much better.
  • Intel investigates counterfeit processors: 300 fake chips - As I reported last week, Newegg shipped out counterfeit Intel i7 processors to customers, where customers received a clay mold of a heatsink, and even a piece of scrap metal as the processor. Intel will investigate why there was counterfeit processors shipped out to customers and exactly how many were shipped:
  • One of the GTX 480 OC Editions consumes 305W - Donanimhaber received documents that showed a GTX 480 OC Edition consumes 305W!
  • Kingston 30GB SSDNow V Series Boot Drive Tested - The idea of an SSD boot drive like the Kingston 30GB V Series drive works well of a lot of users who just can't dump a load of money into a drive but would really like to get rid of the HDD bottleneck in their system. You can see that Windows reports a total capacity availability of 27.9GB out of the 30GB total physically on the drive which is not much of a chunk allocated for drive maintenance as compared to some other drives which have been as much as 10-20%.
  • HotHardware and TechVi Video Podcast - Mar. 12, 2010 - Check it out. Topics include Intel's new Core i7-980X Extreme 6-Core processor, a couple of home theater friendly machines from Toshiba and Dell, fake Core i7-920 processors from NewEgg, and Android's rapid growth in adoption rate in the mobile space...
  • PC Perspective Podcast - Eee PC 1201N ION, Newegg and fake CPUs - Last week PC Perspective talk about an MSI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card, the ASUS Eee PC 1201N ION netbook, Newegg's issues with fake Intel Core i7 CPUs, NVIDIA drivers that might be killing your graphics card, Steam coming to a Mac near you and the announced pricing structure of OnLive.
  • Hard drive evolution could hit Microsoft XP users - As this article from the BBC points out, upcoming hard drives shipping early next year will utilize 4KB (versus 512-byte) sectors. The move will mean less wasted space, particularly on today's large capacity terabyte drives, allowing drives to get larger while consuming the same amount of power. The downside though is that older operating systems like Windows XP weren't designed with 4K sectors in mind. This is because Windows XP was released before the 4K format was decided upon.
  • iDongle : standalone tethered boot for 3.1.2 devices (video) - Standalone jailbreak and/or tethered boot for 3.1.2 devices (iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G/3G).
  • Apple's iPad battery replacement program replaces entire device - As pointed out by Engadget, Apple's product page for the iPad reads somewhat differently than the iPhone page: If your iPad requires service due to the battery's diminished ability to hold an electrical charge, Apple will replace your iPad for a service fee. Correct... Apple, instead of simply replacing the battery and sending your device back, will simply send you an entirely new iPad for the price of $99 (not including $6.95 for shipping).
  • Play Xbox360 Games On iPhone and Android - On Monday, Novell will demonstrate new technology that will allow Microsoft Xbox 360 games to be translated into iPhone apps. It also has the capability to be used to create Android games, potentially taking some Xbox games to the mobile masses.
  • Xpand Promises Universal 3DTV Glasses by June - The next set of glasses planned, called the X103 series, are designed to be universal active shutter glasses, which will periodically search for infrared signals and be able to interpret the signals from all the major sets - Panasonic, LG, Samsung, Sony, etc. - as well as the signals used in Nvidia 3D Vision glasses. Dror tells me he expects these glasses to be in stores by June, and says they will come in 12 colors - in adult and kid sizes - so they can be a "fashion item." I'm not quite sure about the fashion statement they make, but that's not my area. He said final pricing wasn't set yet, but it will probably be in the $125 to $150 range.
  • Energizer's Duo USB charger is infected with a trojan virus - Not only has the Energizer Duo USB charger been less than a monumental success for the battery giant, it turns out that the monitoring software distributed with the portable charger is infected with a Windows trojan
  • Bill Gates is no longer the world's richest - Forbes is reporting the official dethroning of Bill Gates. This is not the first time he's lost the top spot since initially capturing it. In 2008, he dropped to second under Warren Buffet. This year, it's a different story. Carlos Slim Helu, a telecom tycoon in Mexico, has now surpassed Mr. Gates for the numero uno spot on the world's billionaire chart. Last year, Helu ranked third with a fortune of $35 billion. Today, Helu is now worth $53.5 billion--an increase of $18.5 billion over the past year.
  • Epic Final Full-Length Trailer for Robin Hood! - Robin Hood is directed by British filmmaker Ridley Scott, of many classics like Alien, Blade Runner, Black Rain, G.I. Jane, Gladiator, Hannibal, Black Hawk Down, American Gangster, and many more. The script is written by Oscar winner Brian Helgeland, of L.A. He must go on the run before said ticker is repossessed by the company that owns it.Universal is bringing Repo Men to theaters everywhere starting on March 19th. Planning on seeing this?
  • First Official Tron Legacy Teaser Trailer Debuts - Disney released a new trailer for Tron: Legacy and despite my pessimism, this movie looks like it'll be freakin' sweet. Disney is bringing Tron Legacy to theaters in 3D starting on December 17th, 2010.

The Xbox LIVE Marketplace now has details on the upcoming "stimulus package" map pack to be released as DLC for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which will be released for the 360 before other platforms. Word is: "The Stimulus Package delivers 5 additional action-packed multiplayer maps featuring a variety of locations: "Bailout," a multi-level apartment complex; "Storm," an open industrial park littered with heavy machinery; "Salvage," a snowy junkyard fortified by stacked debris and crushed cars. Two legendary fan-favorites from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare return, including "Crash," a war-torn urban environment; and "Overgrown," which features a massive dry creek bed." One of the biggest occupations online
Not even 15 years ago there where fairly few that play poker at all, even less who played it online. Nowadays there are many who play the different poker games as a way to earn there living. The big explosion of poker came both with the acessability of Internet connection and the further development of poker software. Before Internet, poker was in many cases considered a underground game. In comparison with today poker is seen both in magazines and TV-coverage of all the major tournaments and custom made TV shows. No other online game has had the same explosion and played by such a spread demographic. If you would like to join up and try your luck at the online poker tables, you can find all the info on this poker guide.
