An attempt at a faithful recreation of one of United Offensive's best loved maps, Ponyri.

Many thanks to Sgt. Schultz of COD West for all the hard work on many of the models and uploading them for us to use. :)

 

I do not have an estimated date of completion yet.  I am aiming for the first of the year but we'll leave that loose for now.

 

Granted, had I known about Anarchic-X's beautiful base assault mod (which I plan to beg our clan director into installing once it's finished) I would not have even started this project, but now that it's underway, I'm planning on finishing it. :)

Minmap working -

 

The mini-map is now working thanks to all the help both here at Mods-Online and at RGN, but it still needs some tweaking.  The map is off by a few feet.

 

Now once the load screen is working the map will be ready for Beta Release.  2 weeks late :D

Beta Delayed

The Beta has been delayed by technical problems.  No matter what I do I can't get the loadscreen or mini-map to work. The loadscren isn't such a big deal, but you can't drop arty without the mini-map.

 

Also the War Gametype is erroring out and refusing to load.

Other than that it's ready for Beta.  Once these problems are ironed out we'll release it.

JAN 10 2010

My apologies for not updating the project page.

 

We began inital development testing today, a week behind schedule, and so far so good.

The tanks still have no sound and despite my best efforts I cannot get a loadscreen, compass map or mini map to work so I'm going to be begging for help in those areas in the next couple of weeks Innocent

 

The dogs are working fine as are the MG's and the flags for the CTF gametype.  I will be adding more gametypes, most likely during the Beta phase but before final release.  I am planning on S&D and most likely War & Dominiaton.

There are still a fair share of floating foliage and we found a few gaps in the player clips that need to be fixed before the next test next weekend.

DEC 09 2009

Between work, mapping and the holidays I've been busy :D

 

The acutal map is finished but am still doing a lot of cleanup.  It seems just when I think I have all the terrain patches snapped together I run the map and find more seams ha ha.

Right now I'm alternating between doing all the Alpha Blending and putting in path nodes for the dogs.

I have the tanks working but they have no sound (???). Not sure why but I haven't given it a very high priority at the moment.

Yet to do:

  • Minimap /  Compass map
  • Finish Cleanup
  • Finish Alpha Blending
  • Finish Installing Path Nodes for Dogs
  • Fix tank sound problem

We should be ready for development testing in a couple of weeks.  I'm going to pad out the development schedule a bit to allow for the unforeseen problems and the Holiday season that is coming up.

I've got 2 weeks off over the Christmas holiday (Sat. Dec 16 - Sun. Jan 3) so I will have more time to have a right hard go at it. Smile

N0V 28 2009

Sorry I haven't updated this in a week.  Progress on the geo is nearing completion. 

All the terrain is in place, though there is still a lot of patch-snapping to do. 

All the buildings are in place as is all that *!&$ railroad.

Now I'm doing cleanup and detail work, going section by section looking for floating trees & bushes, alpha blending, portaling, pathnodes for the dogs then moving on to the next section.

Still having problems with the tanks though. I've found 2 ways of installing them and neither of them work.  One way, the tanks work but the howitzer don't fire, the other way just produces a script error at run time.

NOV 20 2009

 

Still plugging along.  The railroad work on the south side turned out to be a real... [add your favorite explitive here]... so the work has gone from rocketing along to barely scooting.

I did get the train station converted and in place, and have had to replace a big chunk of terrain from the first section.  It turns out I made a big circle and the last patches didn't meet up with the first ones properly.  That was a couple of day's work gone right there.

We have set up a test server and am hoping to hold the first dev-test in a couple of weeks.  Before Christmas definately though.

I will announce the IP as we get closer to the Open Beta phase.

  • More terrain work (always terrain work).
  • Finished retexturing the factory.
  • Added the shed platforms behind German base
  • Started work on the railroad (the factory is smaller than in the original map so had to bend it a bit to marry up with the bridge)
  • Started adding the boxes and models to the factory

NOV 08 2009

 

The hands are doing much better though now I'm getting cramps in my toes LOL! 

 

Over the weekend I dove in with both feet (er.. no pun intended, but I'll take it anyway ha!) and got a few of the models imported that I haven't had the chance this past week.

  • Built the woodshed south of the MG house (trp. 11)
  • Built one of the two houses just before the bridge to the train station, ported the other. (trp. 12)
  • Added the sniper house on the north side near the north German bunker (trp.4)
  • Ported & retextured the blown-out house on the north side near the German base (trp. 5)
  • Added and smoothed more terrain
  • Ported and began retexturing Sgt. Schultz's Factory

 

**Whoof!** I know it don't sound like much but that was quite a haul for one weekend ha ha. :)

Many thanks to Techno2sl for his generous offer of his factory model.  If I had just checked in here before I did so much work importing and retexturing Sgt. Schultz's factory model I would have jumped at his offer. Wink

 

I still need to scratch-build the barn on the north side at trp. 3, which is actually an "oops" moment.  I had planned out a section to complete before continuing on to the next section, and forgot the barn altogether before starting in on the factory.  (oops). Embarassed

* - Quick update - Since I remembered the barn only when writing this I went back and built the barn real quick.

NOV 06 2009

Despite a major slow down due to Capal Tunnel flaring up in both hands, I have still been able to get more of the terrain work done.  I laid a mouse on the floor and clicked the buttons with my toes... litterally.  I have since ordered parts  build a foot-mouse. (I aint payin $200.00 for a flippin MOUSE!  Build your own for cheap!)

 

I am fast approaching the 50% mark on the map it's-self.  I still have 3 houses to scratch build and 1 of COD West Sgt. Schultz's models that I have imported and need to texture.

 

I may be being a bit conservitive marking the completion point at 25% but that is taking into account any as of yet unforseen work that may need to be done, including Beta Testing.

OCT 31 2009 - A slowdown in production due to injury.  I've been hitting radiant a little too hard and heavy and between work, radiant and gaming I've had a mouse in my hand from the time I wake up till the time I go to bed.  As a result my carpal tunnel has flared considerably in both hands and it is just too painful to grip the mouse even to check email.

A couple of days of Tylenol and rest should set things right again.

OCT 30 2009 - Added MG House, MG's, Sniper House, more terrain, second bridge.  I have also decided to re-work the creek with a smaller mesh  This will make alpha blending much easier, but it means ripping out a lot of work already completed and redoing it all.
