How much would you like to spend on a game?
Posted on Fri. Feb. 20, 2009
A rather interesting news article was posted today regarding game prices. Valve are questioning whether games are too expensive, so we would like to know what you think you should pay. How much do you think is a fair price to pay for a new game?

Prices are in US Dollars.

For me it depends what game it is. If it was something that I have waiting for or that I am particularly interested in then I may spend a little bit extra when picking up a copy. If however I am just browsing for something to play, I would be looking for something at the lower end of the price range.

think of this: a $5 copy of Cod: MW2. I would buy that.

PLUS, less people are trying to steal games because they're so cheap... not that any of us would steal a game[casanova]

21-30 is reasonable. I think 60 (i just take euros) 60 euros is a lil high for a new game. That's the reason i download many games first. if i like it, like call of duty or battlefield i buy it. but mostly i don't buy the game because i think it's just not worth 60 euros. BTW, i just read something on nu.nl (it's a dutch site) and the discovered if they make the games a lot cheaper, it will be more bought , so much more that they profit from it too. So they make more money and sell more games.[lol]

At this moment i think that games are way to expensive, most of the new games range from 50 till 60 euros and thats just too much money for me to spent on something i can do without. i would buy more games if they were priced between 20 and 30 euros.

I think that it not only depends on how badly you want the game but on what type of game it is aswell. Take call of duty 4 for example. I'm a big fan of the game and i bought it when it came out and it cost (guessing) roughly $60 canadian. Imo a worthwhile investment. Now compare that to World of Warcraft. Which i believe was around $80 canadian when it came out. You also have to pay a monthly subscription to warhammer just to play the game. If you're going to be paying monthly for something, I think charging that much is outrageous and is taking advantage of your clientele.
