Backwards Compatibility Ditched by Microsoft

Posted by supersword in Gaming News on Jun 3, 2006
Are you the kind fo person who likes to keep your games, and play them on a new version on the console when possible? Well if you are, I would think again before getting rid of your old console.

Microsft's Peter Moore stated that for their newest console, the X-Box 360, backwards compatibility would be ditched, meaning if you plan on getting rid of your old X-Box, but keeping your games, you are in trouble.

Basically, you will not be able to play these, as Microsoft say it is 'too complicated. Here is the statement released:

"Nobody is concerned anymore about backwards compatibility. We under promised and over delivered on that. It's a very complicated thing... very complex work. I'm just stunned that we have hundreds of games that are backwards compatible."

He added: "more are coming, but at some point, you just go, there's enough, let's move on, or people aren't as worried about a game being backwards compatible - and I like to think we've upheld our end of the bargain in making at least two or maybe three hundred games backwards compatible."

Wow.... thats a bit bold so say basically that nobody cares about backwards compatibility isn't it?
