Uncle Sam to Tell You What Software You Can Run?

Yesterday we discussed how the EFF and Center for Democracy and Technology plan to fight the FCC in court over their push to force ISPs to build surveillance backdoors into their broadband networks. User Ferric Oxide points to a CNET report on another FCC policy document (pdf) that states "consumers are entitled to run applications and use services of their choice, subject to the needs of law enforcement." As CNET suggests, it's a move to limit what software you can run on your system if that software (Skype, PGPfone) doesn't adhere to Uncle Sam wiretap guidelines.
