Deep Fried Entertainment Forms

Posted by PleaseMYOB in Gaming News on Aug 30, 2005
Today, several former Electronic Arts employees, in the form of industry veterans Phil Weeks, Russell Rice, Steve Tolin, Ryan Bedard and Brian Tolinc, announced the creation of a new game development company: Deep Fried Entertainment.

The Vancouver, Canada-based developer will be focusing on handheld games for the current generation, including Sony’s PSP and the Nintendo DS.

Brenda Bailey, Deep Fried Entertainment’s COO, is one of few non-veterans to join Deep Fried Entertainment – she was formerly Regional Director for the Canadian Cancer Society. “Our team shares a combined 35 years of game industry experience,” said Bailey, “our guys have made games that run the gamut from blockbusters to niche titles for industry giants and boutique developers. They’ve launched platforms and re-birthed gaming genres. We’ve truly built an amazing team at an exciting time for the video game industry.”

All of the above developers share backgrounds in racing titles, most notably the Need for Speed Underground series, but no specific genre has been listed for the company’s first title. The company is currently in talks with major publishers. See the developer's website for more information.
