Latest News for Half-Life 2

Bit-Tech reports: "This is why PC gaming is better than console gaming in our opinion; because of excellent mods like this which keep on improving on the games we all know and love.

When it comes to mods in fact it's tough to get more well known FakeFactory, the modder who's been working to improve the visual impact of the Half-Life games ever since their first release. The FakeFactory mods have been upping the polygon count (and amount of cleavage) on Half-Life 2's characters for a number of years now."

Valve and NVidia have teamed up to bring NVidia card owners a free taste of Portal. Alright... the official press release that's floating around makes it sound like you are getting a very special version of Portal. However I think it's actually just a demo of the game. If you already own Portal, then you won't get anything out of this. Heck, you won't even get a download. But, if you don't own Portal and you have Steam installed and you have an NVidia graphics card installed, FOLLOW THIS LINK.

Did you know that before today you couldn't purchase a game for someone on Steam? You could only purchase your own games.

Well today Steam announced that you can now purchase games on Steam and send them as gifts.

To send a gift, customers simply select from hundreds of leading games on Steam and then indicate that the purchase is a gift at checkout. Within minutes, an e-card is delivered directly to the recipient's inbox. If the recipient is new to Steam, they'll receive everything they need to get started.

For more information, visit www.steamgames.com.

Version 0.1 of Half-Life 2 Wars is now available, offering real-time strategy gameplay within the Source-engine environments (thanks Ant and Planet Half-Life). Word is: "To gain resources, there are points that can be captured, and generate a slow income. Mapping documentation is also available on the forum. Base building is not possible yet, but will follow in the next release. Same for fully worked out sides and multiplayer."

Half-Life 2: Episode Two is the second in a trilogy of new games created by Valve that extends the award-winning and best-selling Half-Life adventure.

Half-Life 2: The Orange Box will be released on October 9, 2007, at $49.99 for the PC version and $59.99 for the X360 and PS3 editions.

Just wanted to set a record for "two" homophones in one headline. Anyway, Valve: Half Life 2 Episode 2 will be longer on Fringe Drinking.

has word from Valve's Doug Lombardi that Half-Life 2: Episode Two will offer about eight hours of gameplay, compared with the approximately six hours of gameplay in episode one, and offers details on planned Steam features that will enhance its community support. Doug also says that in spite of Episode 2's delayed release, their development cycle for episodic content is getting shorter.
