Valve and NVidia have teamed up to bring NVidia card owners a free taste of Portal. Alright... the official press release that's floating around makes it sound like you are getting a very special version of Portal. However I think it's actually just a demo of the game. If you already own Portal, then you won't get anything out of this. Heck, you won't even get a download. But, if you don't own Portal and you have Steam installed and you have an NVidia graphics card installed, FOLLOW THIS LINK.
Did you know that before today you couldn't purchase a game for someone on Steam? You could only purchase your own games. Well today Steam announced that you can now purchase games on Steam and send them as gifts.
Version 0.1 of Half-Life 2 Wars is now available, offering real-time strategy gameplay within the Source-engine environments (thanks Ant and Planet Half-Life). Word is: "To gain resources, there are points that can be captured, and generate a slow income. Mapping documentation is also available on the forum. Base building is not possible yet, but will follow in the next release. Same for fully worked out sides and multiplayer."
For the players out there who havn't passed away, given up hope with the episodic gaming for HL2 or simply found something else, you will be happy to know that there is a new trailer out for Half Life 2: Episode 2.
Half-Life 2: Episode Two is the second in a trilogy of new games created by Valve that extends the award-winning and best-selling Half-Life adventure. Half-Life 2: The Orange Box will be released on October 9, 2007, at $49.99 for the PC version and $59.99 for the X360 and PS3 editions. Anyway, Valve: Half Life 2 Episode 2 will be longer on Fringe Drinking. has word from Valve's Doug Lombardi that Half-Life 2: Episode Two will offer about eight hours of gameplay, compared with the approximately six hours of gameplay in episode one, and offers details on planned Steam features that will enhance its community support. Doug also says that in spite of Episode 2's delayed release, their development cycle for episodic content is getting shorter.
