FileFront has been acquired by the original founders of the siteand will NOT be suspended as previously announced. This is NOT an AprilFool's Joke.

After learning about Ziff Davis Media's plan to shut down FileFrontat the end of March, the original founders of FileFront made thedecision to buy it back from Ziff Davis Media

We're happy to announce to the gaming community that as of today,April 1st, 2009, FileFront is a completely independent company againand is no longer part of Ziff Davis Media. All previously suspendedservices should be active and working again. We thank Ziff Davis Mediafor their cooperation and willingness to keep the site and communityalive.

 

Due to the very unfortunate timing of this event and relatedannouncements on March 24th and April 1st (April Fool's Day), we'd liketo make it perfectly clear that:

1) The March 24th announcement about FileFront shutting down was NOTan early April Fool's joke and Ziff Davis Media had every intention ofshutting down FileFront by the end of March.

2) This announcement about the original founders buying back FileFront from Ziff Davis Media is also NOT an April Fool's joke.

3) We're making this announcement on April 1st because the deal wascompleted today and we want to bring all services back onlineimmediately.

4) We would NEVER shut down FileFront as an April Fool's joke.

5) We are happy to be back!

Is it just me or is this all a little bit too convenient?

I do agree with you welshy... but this isn't something they do often. So for now I am taking it as truth. Fool me once....

Hehe yeah I know what your saying, Its more odd than convenient. Almost out of nowhere filefront announce that they are closing, then suddenly 3 days after they are back.

I think it's genuine. Agreed, the timing was all wrong.

However with that in mind. Maybe it just back fired on them and this is their get out of jail card.

Either way, it's good to see it isn't closing down.

I'm mighty glad to hear that.

I was grabbing some files yesterday and during the process the "farewell" announcement suddenly disappeared from the top of the screen. I also noticed that items that had stopped functioning the day before had suddenly started working again.

When I realized it wasn't going to be shut down, my wife couldn't understand my cheer. I explained that "File Front is an online file library indispensable to the gaming community".

When it looked like we were going to lose it, I was hoping (and praying) that downloads.com would pick up the slack.

What I want to know is where did the pink modsonline colourscheme go? it was very soothing or did filefront take that back too?
