Dear FileFront User:

We regret to inform you that due to the current economic conditions we are forced to indefinitely suspend the FileFront site operations on March 30, 2009. If you have uploaded files, images or posted blogs, or if you would like to download some of your favorite files, please take this opportunity to download them before March 30th when the site will be suspended.

We would like to give a warm thank you to all of you who have been part of the FileFront communities we have built together. Your support has had a meaningful impact for all of us here at FileFront. Again, we want to give you a sincere “thank you” for your support over the years and wish you all the very best.

Keep gaming alive,

FileFront Management and Team.

Some people are saying this is a hoax for April 1.

Although I believe it isn't, if it does turn out to be a joke it isn't a funny one since they are making people frantically download files and back up stuff while using the economic situation for some laughs.

They could hide it from the admins...but I doubt it. We'll see. Until then, I've got all my files anyway.

Just like how modsonline was going to go through insane legal troubles due to Jack Thompson, last year around this time? [ohwell]

I hope this is just some cruel April fools joke. These sort of things seem to bring a lot of attention to the site and thus benefit from it. I would no be surprised if this was just an April fools day joke.

Would suck if someone really believed it was a joke, and did not back up their blog/files/etc and March 30th came and dun dun dun... site closes.

FileFront is either causing a lot of people to do extra work this week by backing up files for nothing as part of a joke, or going to cause a lot of grieve to people who don't back up and lose their digital belongings thinking it was a joke.

Guess it's just a few more days till we find out. Maybe FileFront could issue a retraction on their farewell and make adjustments in a new letter addressing any doubts people may have.

Then sites like ModsOnline, CustomCoD, TotalGamingNetwork, etc... could grab some files from CoDFiles (since it's a FileFront affiliate) and host them before CoDFiles closes down and all the old CoD1-CoD2 content is lost along with some CoD4 content.

I've been wanting to collect all CODUO files for years, before we lose any more, joke or not, nows the time to act.
A couple of all nighters downloading franticaly will not cause me to smile on april 1st if it is a bit of fun.

While the ship is preparing to disappear beneath the ocean that is the Internet, I'd like to give a sincere thanks to the whole CoD community, you guys are the true reason this site existed in the first place.
This closing came as a complete surprise to even us staff members, as we were never warned about this. But, economic times are getting hard and it seems like Ziff Davis doesn't have the money to continue the FF network.

Again, I can't say enough thanks to all of you who have kept the site thriving for so long, since it began around 2003, 6 years ago.
While there were those members who would climb on everyone's nerves (dvdhaxor, I'm looking at you), there were also those who were constantly sending in new data to be publish, new files, new news, the works. For those of you, I can't thank you enough for all the work you guys have done.

A big thanks goes to all the Site managers and staff that led before me, I feel kind of like I'm the one who closed things down.

This has been an amazing ride, with many bumps, twists and turns. But through it all, I am proud to say that I enjoyed it very much, it added a great deal of spice in my life to say the least.

So farewell Filefront, it's been fun. Who knows, you might find me administering another site very soon. *hint hint*

This is Nightmare, as the final CoDFiles Site Administrator, signing off, and wishing you the best in your future gaming world.

How nice of them to make people waste their time. [mad]

This has got to be an April Fools joke. March 30?! That can't be a coincidence. If this was for real, this annoucement wouldn't have come at such short notice and there would be more details. If it is for real, then April 1st would be a very sad day (which it shouldn't!)
