This is more of a 'project'. After-Hourz will bring you the largest map of it's kind, nearly 1 kilometers deep, and .5 kilometers wide. Featuring CNQv3.0 and a host of major upgrades. Optimized for CTF and BAS modes and will also support HQ, BEL, TDM, and DM.

Included will be a collection of fully-functional vehicles including:
German PzIII; PzIVD; Marder; StugIII; Russian BT-7; KV-1 and possibly BA-10.
New AT weapons: German Pak40 and Russian 57mm.

Videos and other media info will follow.
======================================
Time period: Late June, 1941 "Operation Barbarossa"
Setting: Eastern Poland/Western Russia
Battle area: Approximately 1,000 meters x 400 meters
Scenario: Panzer Group 2, Army Group Center is pushing quickly though intial Russian defence lines on it way toward Minsk and ultimately Moscow.

German Situation: A Wehrmacht mechanized Regiment is charged with taking a series of low ridge lines that run mostly North-South. The ground is broken by several streams running between the ridges and a number of medium to large wood lots that are too thick to penetrate. As mid-day approaches, the regiment pushes off past the ruins of two concrete bunkers captured in the morning fight. Now refitted and rested, your men push forward supported by several PzIII tanks and a precious few PzIVs. The regiment must cross an open valley, secure a pair of trench lines, a small bridge to the north, and several routes east. After this first phase, a small cooperative farm and houses must be taken in the second valley. After securing these, the regiment then must push eastward up another ridge cut by three roads heading toward the main village in the area. Stiff AT resistance can be expected, and troops will be exposed on the heights and must move forward aggressively. The fighting for this village will be intense. House-to-house and garden to garden fighting will be toughened by the presence of AT guns, and a number of tanks. Beyond the village lies a dense forest with a few small open fields leading down to a wide, shallow river where the regiment must secure a bridgehead on both banks. Once this final objective is completed, the sector will be secure.

Russian situation: Your infantry regiment has been decimated over the last few days under the heavy assaults of German air and armor attacks. There is constant shelling and overhead flights of Stuka dive bombers harassing your flanks and rear areas hindering reinforcements...and retreat. Before you is a well armored German regiment bent on your destruction. Your regiment will be challenged to hold a series of defensive positions nearly 1 kilometer deep. There are a few strong concrete bunkers in the area that can act as fire bases and a number of improvised earth works and dugouts throughout the sector to provide some strong points around the field. You have few AT weapons but the ones you do possess are in well sighted locations and with some sniper and rifle team support, you can do grave damage to the German assault. To support your defense, you are bolstered by a small armored company with BT-7 light tanks and KV1 heavy tanks. A few BA-10 armored cars can also be used to some degree of effectiveness. You must slow if not halt the German attack. Do not get pushed back to the river to the east. This will be the ultimate failure. Hold the line. Be prudent when to hold and when to fall back to stronger positions...and always look for the opportunity to counter-attack.
===========================

A high overhead of the entire map.

Below: Overlooking the river and the Russian final stand region. Note the bunker and trench system. The Russian will be supported by some artillery pieces. The main village is to the right of the shot.

Below: Overlooking the eastern edge of the main village. (view is with NORTH at the bottom, EAST to the left) The streams winding from bottom to top (North to South) indicate valley areas segmented by woodlots and some buildings with low ridgelines between the valley areas.

Below: Looking down on the eastern end of the map (North is to the bottom of shot). The German attack will advance from the extreme right center of the shot, crossing two ridge lines and open valley areas before capturing a small coop farm/village seen in the top left portion of the shot.

=================================

First prelim teaser videos of the map and vehicles as they are ready. I hope to post up a video or two on each new model and show off some aspects of the map at the same time. These are preliminary videos just to let the community have a look inside and see how things are progressing.

**NOTE** No need to point out issues you think you see with the map or models as everything is still a work in progress. Some of the tank skins are changing daily as are their mounted MGs. Just watch and enjoy.

FIRST-PERSON VIEW SCREENS:

This is a small set (10) of shots. Shows off about 3/5 of the map. (Note: the video card I took these with sucks, so the water and some textures are not too great) The map has changed a bit since I took these, but they give a better perspective.

German view looking East toward first major Russian defenses...

A closer look at a log and earth bunker, one of many across the map that the Russian can fend off the attack...

Looking West from the first line of defense, the Russians will expect the German attack to come through the gap (left center) in the distance, and flankers from the right and far left...

Another view from the first line, looking East at the center of what will be the German lines...

An open, rolling field north of the small Coop farm and village, burning in the background...

A high angle look at the main village, looking NE. Three roads converge here from the West and only one goes out toward the East. A natural choke point that will require all forms of combined infantry and armor tactics to hold or capture...

Close up of the village main road..

Looking West over the shoulder of a Russian KV1 heavy tank. The burning village at the Coop is in the distance...

On the North edge of the village, this anti-tank gun covers one of the main roads into the area and a wide potato field...

Looking Southeast toward the main village. The third road from the West comes by this small farm and destroyed bunker before hooking South into the village along the far treeline...

As I already said over at AHz, this map looks incredible Slyk. I can't wait to play. Hopefully I will get the chance to do some Alpha testing on it. The new AT's and vehicles just put this over the top. Awesome job!

I have to say that is some map [twoguns]

I am currently trying to build a 600 x 600 metre map and anything other than a fast vis compile is out of the question.

Looking forward to this.

Added a new video to the media collection. This is of the Marder II and is a bit over 2 minutes long. Should have a few more this week, including the Panzer III. Model and skins by Lex and Postman778.
