hello, I would have figured there would be more problems with this but I have looked and searched and there has been some topics pertaining to this but no answers I have been bound and determined to figure it out but no luck.

here is what happens and what I know so far hoping someone knows the rest of this story!

ok here is what my deal is when I add +set g_connectpaths 1 to my map everything works fine my objectives are fine tanks move and what not but if I die even though i have made it to a save point it will crash straight to desktop

so I removed +set g_connectpaths 1 and went into my game objectives work tanks still move and do there things but no ai will move at all they all spawn and any that are not spawned by a trigger will delete the rest will stay and stand there when I die I start from my last save like it is suppossed to do

I tried adding this command in the compiler as well and didnt work maybe that is not what the custom command line is for in the compiler i have no idea but i gave it a try any help would be greatly apprieciated.

I have done much research and still no real answer I know some map makers tell you to add +set g_connectpaths 1 and some say dont do it, I am figuring that the connectpaths option when ticked in the compiler should take care of this and you shouldn't have to add anything to your cod2 shortcut for it to work I just played a few maps and they didnt require anything be added and they both worked fine one of them was the testmap from here in the downloads section which had the map source file and i tried to compile it with the bsp sent it worked fine in the game and with the map file that I compiled nothing ai just stood there so what exactly is wrong here is my compiler messed up or am i doing something wrong I know someone knows the answer to this.

Ive only just started cod2 mapping and i have the same problem, ive added the command to the propertis on the cod2 sp shortcut and it still crashes, first time i load the map, it works fine, when i die, sometimes it will reload the map but the characters dont move anymore...[banghead]

Sometimes it doesnt even restart the map it just crashes the cod2 sp to my desktop, i mean, i know that if i close cod and open cod again then it works fine but, realistically, im nto gonna do this am i?

If it's crashing with connect_paths equal to 1, so change it ... to 2 :) CoD2 will exit then, and all pahts will get compiled within the level. Then, set the connect_paths to 0 ( important, otherwise it won't run your level ) and run it.

Welll...I did what you said, i put it at 2 instead of 1, when i tried to load the map, cod2 crashed like u sed. So i then set it to 0 and tried running it. Now when it starts, when i walk intro my triggle>>multiple to start the enemy spawn, nothing happens, plus, ive started with no weapons now or grenades. Totally fucked it up now :(

When the enemy spawns, open the console and look for error messages like "AI can't find path to goal" or something like that.

Also, what operating system are you using, 32 bit or 64 bit?

Don't forget to set "developer 2". Just to be sure, every warning will be posted in log.
