Hi, yes I still play cod uo and I am making a map with a friend.

Now if search the site upside down and i think somewhere the answer to my question is out there, but i cant find it. so i made a new topic.

What the problem is, is that i dont know how you make 1 map with 2 or more people. So how do you work on a project with more people? Can you work at the same time on 1 map. So you convert them together to get one map. Has it something to do with layers or export (.map) and import files?

Ive tried to export my map and send it to a friend who made some changes, but when I import the map i see the changes but also many brushes are a duplicate. The brushes copied them selves wich resolved in overlapping brushes.

I hope you guys give me a link or an answer to my question. Hope that you guys are still active on the site, because it helped so much.

you can use layers to work with more then 2 people on a map.

when in graydiant press 'L' this will bring up the 'layer menu'.

at first you will see four columns

A = if checked this is the active layer, you can only have one active layer at a time.
V = when checked this layer is visible in the 3d window.
S = when checked this layer is selectable.
Layer = The name of the layer.



When you right click on the layer menu you get a couple of options, right click layer 1:



add layer -> new: adds a new layer
add layer ->file: adds an existing layer ( one made or edited by a friend)

the options underneath add layer explain themselves.

properties gives some more options, you can change the name of the layer. for example your name if its your layer and your friends name for his layer, also change the filename so its the same as the layer name to keep it clear what is what.

you can add brushes/entities to layers by selecting them right mouse on the grid and move to layer --> select layer here.

also when you have changed things in your layers dont forget to save them in the layer menu.

layers are saved inside map_source/yourmapnamehere as .gml files.
