any ideas why i'm getting this? The top block moves/deletes fine .... the bottom block i had to move 5 times before it would move/delete .... the middle block i've shifted about 30 times, and it still wont move !

and on a similiar subject, how is it possible for solid textures (the stone) and caulk to 'fight'?. If i move the camera round the 3d view certain blocks shimmer, and this 'shimmer' is carried across to the compiled map.

thanks for any help :)

That shimmer is probably because you have multiple brushes in one area. The one texture is right on top of the other causing the artifact. Try selecting the brush and hit delete. If there is still a brush there after you hit delete, then it is clear there was two there.

You may have a problem selecting just one brush. Sometimes it will select all identical brushes in that area no matter what. You can either delete the whole thing and rebuild, or you can do a Find Brush.

I think there's a third way under the edit menu. It might be the link called Map Properties. It makes a listing of the contents of your map in heirarchal format. I think you cansingle out the brush this way too. I can't remember off the top of my head since I haven't used that in awhile. [ohwell]

look at the picture.... the point i was trying to make is that some brushes just seem to be 'non - deletable'. the top block deletes fine.... the bottom block had to be deleted 5 times before it went, the middle block has been deleted 30+ times and its still there !. How do you manage to get 30+ brushes occupying the same space ? haha

also, when i built the map i was extra careful to make sure there were no overlapping brushes (afterall, its a tiny, tiny map.... just a wall section). I can easily accept i missed 2 or 3, but entire sections of wall seem to be affected.

thanks for your time :)

think i found a fix ...... Engineers post at the top of http://www.modsonline.com/Forums-top-4336-10.html.

Holding shift and left clicking multiple times on each block, then deleting it seems to work........but it appears that every single brush (and i like the clipper tool, so theres a lot of brushes lol) has AT LEAST a duplicate, if not 4,5 or more, so i can't just highlight the entire lot and do everything at once - each brush has to be done individually.

tried cleaning brushes...that just found 1 brush

What i want to know is how did all these duplicate brushes get there? I use 'undo' a lot......could that be the cause?.

I'd really like to know what causes this while im working on my first small snippet of map. It'd be a killer to go and have to check every brush on a large map

thanks

using undo can cause this, as well as using the windows shortcuts (ctrl+v to paste...ctrl+c to copy) can wreak this kind of havoc

it sounds as though you may have your work cut out for you [angryalien]
