I just have changed my video card from a Nvidia geForce 7600GT 256MB to a Nvidia geForce 8400GS 512MB PCI express, and I got a lot of lag and all games performs are very slow even if I set the game graphics to 800 x 600.

Is the GS & GT thing at the end of the models the diferent between ?.

I've changed my video card 'cause I just got COD WW, and activision support told me , I was on the limit to play that game and I though that I got a good video card (Nvidia geForce 8400GS) but is not working as I want, and I cant reinstall the old one because now is causing video problems and PNY, the builders of those video cards, says that the first video card is out of date and thats why dont take the drivers anymore.

Can Anybody help me, please?!!!

Thanks!!!

Usually, the GT is better, because it has higher GPU speeds. with the 8800 GT vs the 8800 GS, the 8800 GT has 50 more MHz in the core clock.

Check out this chart on the 8 series NVIDIA graphics cards:

Did you get the very latest n vid drivers for that card and your operating system?

Also did you completely remove the existing drivers before installing the new card and drivers

I would recommend you do that

How do I uninstall the old video card drivers ?.
When I've installed the new card I've just format my PC leaving it at cero and start all over again as new. and then install the new card and then drivers.

So, since theres no more answers, I asume that the video card Nvidia geForce 8400 GS is not good enough even if it have 512MB instead 256MB that geforce 7600GT have. So is not good to play COD2 or COD4, not even, COD WW.[banghead]

So I have to trow it away and buy a newone. What a crap huh![mad]

Sry sgt, I have just had a look at the reqirements on my COD W@W box and it says 6600 gt is ok so your card should be ok, I would still look into the latest drivers for that card.

I'm not too sure why you reformat when you change the card when all you need do is go to control panel / add or remove then uninstall your nvid drivers, close down start up again then install the latest drivers.
Also is the rest of your system up to the job? you may have a bottlenack somewhere else like shartage of ram for instance or a slighlty underpowered cpu.

edit.. damn my bad mate... just noticed we are talking bout cod 2 here and not w@w
will check my cod 2 box tomorrow

Well, I did format my pc because the old video card malfunction didnt let start my pc, it gave me only blue bars.
My system is:
Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz, 1.00GB of RAM , Windows xp pro., Capacity: 120GB memory, file system: NTFS. and the video drivers are up to date.
I just want to be sure before to trow away this video card and buy a newone, because I still thinking thats the problem.
I'll wait for any respond.
Thanks!

p4 3.0

i thought all p4 were AGP video with
PCI E slots (not for video)
AGP = Brown slot
PCI-E= Many Color but never Brown
PCI = White and i think they come in a diffrent color aswell
You still getting the blue bars?
if so

1. make shere you have the right card for your computer.
2. if it did it with old card most likly your video slot is burned up

what board u have? model would be just fine.
Go buy your self some RAM no joke. think about that as well due to that a singel core computers are way out dated. i think its like 1 gig of ddr is like $36 could be wrong not for shere if prices changed. and for ddr2 for most dual core motherboards are about 2 gig for $37.
also think about upgading your computer
for about
low end cost
$202.97
you can have
*IPSG Intel DP35DPM P35 775 ATX Motherboard*
**Intel Corporation Intel® Boxed Pentium® Dual-Core Processor E5200 thats a 2.5 , 45nm**
***Crucial Memory Ballistix 2GB DDR2-800 (PC-6400) CL4 Memory Kit (Two 1GB Memory Modules)***
that means u can just take the board and cpu out and replace

if you dont know what board u have use this
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
just extract it anyware and run it it will tell yea everything you would need
thats if you dont have the blue bars still

Thank you for that tool, very useful.
And theres no more blue bars with the new card, only the lag ingame, and still cant run COD WW, singleplayer. So I'm thinking to take your advise and change my motherboard, or increase the ram of memory.
I just have a respond from ACTIVISION SUPPORT, and they told me I'm just a little bit over the limit requirements and that I will need more memory to run that game.
Thanks and I'll try to upgrade my PC soon as I can.
