Hi all
Im new here so please bear with me. That and im not exactly the sharpest tool in the wood shed when it comes to computers. So im looking for some help here.

I play ALOT of Day of Defeat. Yeah I play Half Life and all that and do enjoy it but for some reason DOD hit it off for me.

Was wondering if any of you would know how to make new maps for DOD. I was ondering if I took the map editors fro HL2 would it then convert it to DOD. Since DOD is a conversion of HL and HL2.
Would that work ?
Is there a program that I can use to make maps for DOD ? I have some cool ideas for maps. Wish they made a program that you could just take a map and move around the buildings/streets. Whatever kinda point and click.
Or have differant catagories. Building. Trees. ZRocks. Tanks.
Use a pull down menu and point and click it to where you want it.

Years ago I used to have alot of fun making Golf Courses On the Old Jack Nickulas gold course editor. Or on the Links programs. Tehy were kinda point and click. Draw and fill in the grass ares. Stuff like that.

But from everything I have heard about making maps for like DOD and HL'2 it sounds so difficult.
Is it ?
I have time on my hands LOL
Im and OTR truck driver and I take my Lap Top with me all the time so when Im at Docks I could work on it then.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In Steam go under tools and launch SorceSDK. From there select the game, open Hammer and start mappin'!
Also, mapping is easy once you get used to the tools, the hardest part is imagination...

We also have a whole section of hammer mapping tutorials, that can be found here.

Specifically this one. It's a great video tutorial by foyleman, that takes you through the basic's of setting up and mapping with hammer.
