I have many terrain mesh duplicate plane problems.

Is it because I have moved some verts too far?

Another problem im getting is, when I open the editor
and my map, if i close it without touching anything it
asks if I want to save the changes but there are none!

Is there an underlying problem here? I have re-installed
and removed registry entrys before installing.

The duplicate plane problems I'm guessing you are seeing during the compile? If so, they need to be fixed. Use the misc menu to either find the brush or go to the coordinates that are referenced in the compile output and delete the extra brushes. That's probably what's causing the duplicate plane.

What causes the extra brushes? A lot of things from what I understand. One thing that I could always count on causing me problems in Radiant was using UNDO with entities (models and such). Moving one, for instance, and then realizing I didn't want to move it so I UNDO it. It will go back where it was but the entity key/values as well as worldspawn would usually get messed up. Quite often too I would find multiple brushes that were duplicated in place (more than one on top of the other).

Radiant has some bugs but if you are careful it works pretty well.

I only said what I said because thats all I did to them.

I understand that moving verts in brushes causes this prob
and wondered if it was the same with meshes.

If I never used UNDO I would give up mapping hehe..

Thanks for the tip.

I know what you mean! I just avoid it when dealing with models. Other than that, I'm just careful.
