Hi all,

I have made custom textures for my map, they show up in the editor, but when i compile they don't show up ingame.

i have saved the textures as a .tga (.dds is really getting me confused :ohwell: ) and named it brick@desertwall1.tga
First custom texture i've made so i guess i'm doing something wrong [tongue] .

thnx in advance.

Make sure you put the custom texture in the correct folder (main/texture) either in your pk3 file or in your CoD map...

it aint showing up cuz needs shader...so name it so that it uses one of cod shaders... like if it is plaster plaster@basewall_nameoffilehere.dds

or concrete@wall_namefilehere.dds

at least thats way i did it...just to keep it easy so didnt have to make my own shader..just go looking around in all the pk3's to see how they have them named and find one that fits your texture...like concrete wall or wood floor and use the shader that the game uses for that

hope this helps

ok have a new problem with custom textures.. [tired]

i want to create .dds textures, but when i want to save them in paintshop pro 8.0, i just can't hit the save button.
have tried all the settings and it just wont work.

my texture is saved in a power of 2 (1024 x 768)
heard that its important to do.
It would be great if someone has a good tut on making custom .dds textures :smokin:

this is what is see when i try to save it.

.dds files need to be square. So make it 1024x1024... most textures in CoD are 256x256 or 512x512 though. So 1024x1024 might be a bit big.

np and one tip when nameing your file this way make sure you dont make your file same name as one the game alrdy named...so make your names something like name of your map....ex:concrete@wall_yourmap01.dds
ex:plaster@basewall_yourmap02.dds and so on

ok i will make them square then, but how does it come that there are non-square textures that are decal? they require an alpha channel and i saw that in the .dds save options.

sorry if i'm asking something really noobish

[withstupid]

and thnx for all the help, love you all :casanova:

ok again a new problem. The .tga textures i've made show up in the editor. the .dds textures i've made don't. and when i compile there is no .tga or .dds texture in my map at all [confused]

i've saved mine as rock_clampy@cobblestone002.dds in a power of 2 (512 x 512) and generate mipmaps: 2.

i put them in the folder maintexturescustomgatien

what else do i need to do to get it working?
