posted by Sparks on the Treyarch community forum , guess its legit , downloaded but nt havnt installed yet though
total post :
Quote: http://wiki.treyarch.com/wiki/Downloadi ... _The_Tools
Added Files:
mp_castle.map and all .map prefabs associated with it.
code_post_gfx_mp, flamethrower, vehicle, and water CSV files.
ambient, attack, and sprint Zombie sound effects.
destructibledef and destructiblepiece files
Installation:
- Unzip the .rar file to a new folder. (if you are reading this, then you have possibly already done this. Congrats!)
- You will see three folders, "map_source", "raw", and "zone source".
- Highlight all three folders and copy them into your "Call of Duty - World at War" root game directory.
- You will be asked if it is okay to overwrite folders and files. Click "Yes to All" for this operation.
You have now sucessfully installed the mod tools package. Have fun, and please report any problems to the forums! |

Then take a closer look. Beside Map Source for Castle there is nothing we didnt already have plus we still have no fix for :
- Loadscreens/minimap
- Vehicles
- Audio in maps
- Custom models issues
- Destructibles Vehicles
All in all, not exactly good news. Trying to keep us waiting a bit longer yes. |

I still can't help but think that they could decide to release no tools as opposed to some tools. I like some tools better than none.
If you want to act like a dog eating at the scraps and crumbs dropped from a supposedly professional game studio's table, like some little lap dog, then so be it. Personally speaking, I'd rather not. I have higher standards than that.
Its been well said before: If you're going to do anything, do it well and do it right. If they are going to release mod tools, release them in a working state, or dont bloody bother at all.
Treyarch have acted like a bunch of noobs who dont seem to know their arse from their elbow. |

It was six months. COD2 shipped in October 2005. The mod tools were released in April 2006.
They werent much, but at least they worked!! Go figure that one! |

JD summed up the strategy of Treyarch when it comes to the mod tools:
Quote: Additional Zombie sounds effects cannot be released for licensing concerns. I hope that you can make do with what we’ve worked to provide you with, and trust the talent that lives within the mod community to fill in the gaps as best they can.
In other words, release broken tools, and leave it up to the talent in the community to fix what they broke to begin with. |

Are you serious??? Most mappers are using workaround WE, the community have made happen. We have been begging Treyarch for a patch for missing files - which we recreated since nothing was coming - now you are OK with a useless udpate that doesnt fix the main issues we are having? Hell, you are a nice guy! I bet you dont map or mod then do you?
Really disapointed at the stand you guys are taking at Modsonline. You do realise that by accepting the sub-standard mod support like this you are killing any prospect of improvement? Think again my friend. |
